Zombie thread

ChocolateCinderToffee · 15/10/2023 18:10

Noah is fine. Cody, I wouldn't.

17caterpillars1mouse · 15/10/2023 17:55

It's not a name I would personally use but it's not awful either. I wouldn't automatically think chav either, unless you give it a crazy spelling. It sounds friendly and down to earth to me and unlike other posters I would automatically assume any Cody was a boy. Corey is similar and nice too

peaceinourtime · 15/10/2023 06:33

It’s an ok name for a child but I don’t think it ages well.

EllaWallace · 14/10/2023 09:37

I had an American boyfriend called Cody and he was gorgeous (and from a very nice farming family so I don’t think it’s necessarily a chav name in America) so I personally love it 😂

HeyYouWithTheSadFace · 14/10/2023 00:06

There is nothing wrong with the name Cody! It's modern and it's easy to say and spell. Ask people you know in real life for opinions, they'll be better, honestly.

MN only seen to endorse 'classic' names.

Cody is fine, go with it!

WakyWally · 13/10/2023 23:27

Nah. Cody or Cory nah.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 09/12/2015 23:00

Logan odd on a Brit?!

My DS has been carrying it off well for the past 14 years.

He was named after an American guitarist to be fair but I loved the fact it was traditionally a Scottish name because me and DH had spent lots of time there.

Yep, that Scotland, you know the one that's in Britain.

Rianna1997 · 09/12/2015 20:26

Love the name Smile
Our daughter is having a very American name too I think they sound less common, if it's what you like, why does it matter what others think? My mum told me my daughter's name is 'Chavy' at the beginning of the pregnancy and now she loves it!

myotherusernameisbetter · 09/12/2015 19:44

Yup Dowager but we are north of Watford so don't technically count as British don't ya know.....

TheDowagerCuntess · 09/12/2015 19:01

Logan odd on a Brit? It's Scottish, isn't it?

myotherusernameisbetter · 09/12/2015 12:48

It's not my favourite name on earth but there is nothing wrong with it and it has a similar feel to Darcy.

It seems like there are 90 million Noahs atm.

Luckily people have different tastes. Personally I tend to view it more as a girls name as the only one I've come across has been female. It's also the name of a relatives cat, but my personal experience will be different to others.

squoosh · 09/12/2015 12:45

Well I think it's nice enough. If it's the only name you can both agree on well then it seems obvious that you should go for it!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 09/12/2015 11:55

Horrible and chavvy. Noah is lovely.

kristine007 · 09/12/2015 11:53

Agent Cody Banks - my kid is obsessed with that movie :)

MonsterDeCookie · 09/12/2015 11:51

It's very American and is a common dog name as well. But if ends up a judge in Montana he's sorted. It's a name you'd find more in the Western US in places like Utah or California. It's in the same vein as Wyatt, Logan, Hunter etc. It would see a bit strange on a Brit.

celtictoast · 09/12/2015 10:51

I don't like it, sorry. It reminds me of codes, colds, codeine.

smartyclogs · 09/12/2015 10:33

Jody? Too feminine?

fanjodisfunction · 09/12/2015 09:58

I like it, its not offensive, doesn't remind me of serial killers or bad people.

I think it's a nice name, go for it op. I prefer it to Noah, but that's because I don't really like bibilical names.

SanityClause · 09/12/2015 09:52

Noah is very popular, so will quickly become dated.

There was a very handsome Cody in my sixth form, so it has positive associations for me, although it's not a name I would choose.

If you and DH like it, go for it. We're just a load of randommers on the Internet! Wink

Sophronia · 09/12/2015 09:13

It's a bit 80s/90s American, but I'd rather see it than Noah, which seems to be mentioned on every other post on these boards at the moment...

DandyDan · 09/12/2015 07:50

Buffalo Bill's name was William Cody.
And then there was (female) Cody Willis in Neighbours.

TheDowagerCuntess · 09/12/2015 07:34

It is very American. To me, it's a very 90s name, so quite dated. It lacks substance.

Those are just my top of head thoughts, as a faceless random, off t'internet. If you like it, go for it.

ScarlettDarling · 09/12/2015 07:32

Noah is lovely. Personally I'm not keen on Cody. I've taught a boy Cody and a friend has a girl Cody...neither are at all chavvy! But I don't like the name, sorry.

swampytiggaa · 09/12/2015 07:29

I don't like it sorry - mainly because I know a real pita kid with the name. Mind you his parents have misspelt it which makes my teeth itch and me dislike it even more!
