Baby is going to be here Friday if all goes to plan with induction. Did have our name sorted if it was going to be a boy which was Kester but husband has done a u turn and think it clashes with our surname which is the same as a very famous comedian whose first name is billy.

So we have thought of Ewart tonight.

What are peoples thoughts on the name.

Innes or Magnus are fab. Thought Struan too, like pp sleepyhead Or Murray?

sleepyhead · 09/12/2015 16:00

Innes and Magnus are both nice.

What about Struan, Angus or Gregor?

aoife24 · 09/12/2015 15:55

This is probably dead now, but anyway, Innes is great, really goes with Lachlan.

HopefulAnxiety · 08/12/2015 17:44

A friend from NI has this as a surname and pronounces it like 'yurt' but that might just be the accent! I think it is 'Ewe-ert' in an English accent.

fanjodisfunction · 08/12/2015 12:26

Love the name callum but its taken by a close cousin
Tristin I love dh hates.

My best friends dad is called magnus which might be a problem.

Thanks for the input guys.

Ewart is pronounced Ewe- ert

Torin
Lorcan
Tristin
Fergus
Duncan
Callum

Hufflepuffin · 08/12/2015 12:04

What about Ira?

ThatsNiceDear · 08/12/2015 12:01

Ewart sounds like 'you what?' to me! There's nothing wrong with Kester and I think it goes nicely with that comedian's surname. I like it more than your other names on the list too.

sparechange · 08/12/2015 11:46

How do you pronounce it?
Ee-wart?
Or ooh-wat?

Although I can't unhear it in Boss Hog's voice now..!

BillMurrey · 08/12/2015 11:44

Any one else keep hearing Ewart in a Boss Hogg voice?

MrsCaecilius · 08/12/2015 11:43

Ewart sounds like an American hillbilly to me.

Magnus though goes beautifully with Lachlan!

Flossiesmummy · 08/12/2015 11:33

Kester is way nicer! Thanks

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 08/12/2015 11:23

Innes is lovely and goes great with Lachlan

celtictoast · 08/12/2015 10:50

Magnus is nice and would go well with Lachlan.

mydogeatsnutstoo · 08/12/2015 10:48

Don't like Ewart but see you have been put off now! Kester is lovely. Innes is lovely too and these both go well with Lachlan.

What about Rowan, Nairn, Fraser.

fanjodisfunction · 08/12/2015 10:36

I think I'm going off it now, I really like kester but it means Christopher and dh has a brother called this and we'll we don't get on. So I'm going off kester too.

I really like

Innes
Magnus
Boyd
Reid

My DS is called Lachlan so needs to go with that.

No not a fan, sorry. However I think it's the spelling as apose to the pronunciation. It just looks like Eee Wart to me. IYSWIM. How about an alternative spelling such as Euart.

aoife24 · 07/12/2015 10:54

I like it and don't foresee issues around 'ew Wart' etc. It's a Scottish surname, quite distinct from Stuart, and there is a tradition of using surnames as for names here. I do prefer Kester though and really, it's fine with your surname.

OTheHugeManatee · 07/12/2015 10:42

I see Ewart and think 'you what?'.

Sorry Grin

lastqueenofscotland · 07/12/2015 10:25

I thought wart and then thought it sounds a bit like Ewok...

Sofiria · 07/12/2015 08:11

I'm sorry, all I can see there is 'wart.' It's just too prominent. Stuart is much better, if you want something similar-sounding.

ThreeRuddyTubs · 07/12/2015 07:32

Please don't do that to your tiny little baby...it's not even a name that would suit a grown man more it's just horrible

IoraRua · 07/12/2015 07:28

I just see Ew Wart. Nope. Not a fan.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 06/12/2015 23:50

E-Wart
That's what they'd call him in high school.

Kester's much nicer! Or Euan, Lachlan, even Stewart (a fine classic name).

cocacola1006 · 06/12/2015 23:45

U wart is all I hear sorry :/
