Tigi/Tiger for girl

Which one is better? Or are they both awful? I have two dds already, both with old fashioned names, one which has got very popular and one that hasn't. If this baby was a boy he almost definitely would have been Tiger but I'm not sure it suits a girl or of Tigi is a rubbish feminine alternative. Any thoughts? (I have thick skin 😑 )

I think you should get a cat if you want to name something Tiger or Tiggy.

You are naming a person. someone who will be a fully grown adult.

Antigone is far better if you want to use Tiggy as a nickname.

I would absolutely hate to be called Tiger. Tiggy is ok as a nickname.

Although I do have a friend with a seriously "unique" name who has kept it. When asked she sighs and says "My parents were very young" .......

Another vote for Antigone, nickname Tigi/Tiggy.

I don't like Tiger on its own, nor do I like Tegan - they both sound so masculine.

I know two Tiggys, both of whom are really Antigone.

I like Tiggy but really don't like Antigone. Tegan is nice. Katinka is sweet but I don't see how it links to Tigi. Tinker maybe!! I only know one and she doesn't shorten it.

Tiger on its own - I wouldn't use this for a girl.

I think it's awful. As an adult woman, I would hate to introduce myself on the phone at work as 'Tiger'.

In ds last school (juniors) he was in class with a girl who had tiger as her middle name.

She loved it. Always preferred it to her common normal first name.

I like it. But I am not sure i would be brave enough.

I wish I had thought of it for dd middle name!

Tiger in Afrikaans is more like a long, drawn out "Tear" with a rhotive r.

Honestly, I wouldn't. Just stick to Tiger as a nickname. For any name you fancy. A family member was always known as Tiger, her given name is completely unrelated.

Seeing Tier written out reminds me of wedding cakes, she would end up having to constantly correct people...

I'm really glad of all the opinions and it definitely seems to be a marmite sort of name. If everyone loved it I'd probably be put off a little. I've been looking at tiger translated into other languages and quite like the Afrikaans Tier (tee-air) which doesn't go at all with my other DCs classic/old lady names but I don't think it's that important.

I know a girl called Tiger, she's 13.

It couldn't suit her less. She's a very shy, overweight girl who stammers. Her name makes her very self conscious and she hates it.

Particularly when her siblings have very run-of-the-mill names.

MouldyPeach I don't want to give too much away about his personal life but he's had his fare share of troubles from being a child. He's overcome it and now has a lovely family of his own. He's a fighter but is also a total gent. His name just totally suits him!

Tiger is imo not a name really, maybe an eccentric choice for a boy. It's a great nickname if it suits the child.
Tigi or Tiggy is better, and a lovely nickname, but then no "full" given name.
Antigone is lovely, elegant. However, as a pp has said, she was the daughter of Oedipus and ended up killing herself, so rather sad. Also I imagine there would be a number of spelling/ pronunciation hurdles with it.

I think the little girl in Outnumbered might be called Tiger? I think it's quite cool!
