Is Colette a nice name?

It isn't very common these days. What do you think?

Well it most certainly wouldnt be one of my names, but in answer to your question. There's no such thing as a nice or horrible name, is there. It's all about opinions.

Oh, there's so many lovely French names for girls. Pick something else.

DH is French and it's a family name. Guess it's not really good to go in the UK based on responses so far.......I kind of like it, but worry that it's too unusual. I didn't know it was an old ladies name in Ireland though.
I only really know it as the (French) author - haven't met anyone called it outside of DH family.

Yea, it's quite fuddy-duddy. A lot of older Irish women are called Colette, people of pension age.

It'd be like Martina, Pauline, Bernadette, Patricia etc

It makes me think 'roll it there Colette'.

Very common among Irish women in their fifties. It's a Maureen kind of name.

I love the name, mainly as I work with a Colette and she is one of the nices people I have ever met.

I know two Colettes. Nice (ish) women, nasty name.
