Daphne or Bonnie?

DD2 due in New Year and for some reason we can't make up our mind. Love both but my reservation about Daphne is that 1) is the sound slightly harsh? 2) nn like Daffy inevitable. Reservation about Bonnie is that it may be too cutsie for a grown woman. Also what middle names go well with either? DD1 is Nancy.

I know a Bonnie, her full name is Bonita, lovely Spanish name.

Tell people you're a du Maurier fan, or a Greek mythology fan, or a keen gardener (wasn't mythological Daphne turned into some kind of bush?)

Much prefer Daphne - it has much more substance to it. Bonnie's too cutesy and a bit of a non-entity. Plus Daphne has some interesting literary and mythological namesakes (as well as Scooby Doo!)

Thanks for all your comments! Looks like Daphne then. My DD1 (age 3) utterly insists on that being her sister's name but don't want that to be the family "myth" of how we chose it!!!

Not fussed on either but Bonnie is a lot better than Daphne.

Daphne definitely. Bonnie is a dogs name. Daphne is utterly gorgeous.

My friend's current (as in two year old) Golden Retriever is called Bonnie so it ain't the Blue Peter dog I'm thinking of Wink.

Sorry don't like either. Bonnie is a dogs name and what if she's not Bonnie? (As we say for 'pretty'). Daphne is just an ugly name.

Nancy is fabulous - please name her sister something just as gorgeous!!

Think the Bonnie/dog thing derives from a Blue Peter retriever who pegged out in 2001, so not too worried about that. Was more concerned it might not suit a woman in authority necks cod liver oil

Don't like either. Daphne very old fashioned for a reason and Bonnie very cutesey and yes, a bit doglike.
