Middle name for Madeleine?

Madeleine is my current front runner if baby is a girl (DH likes it but still hasn't looked at the bloody name book so I'm rolling with it myself in the meantime Grin)

I'm unsure on a middle name - the only ones I can think of are Holly or Grace, and though I like Grace, I know lots of kids with that middle name so it puts me off.

I'm not a fan of Rose or May. Our surname is two syllables, starts with a W.

Any thoughts please?

Love Madeleine - i think it needs a one syllable middle name. Kate is lovely - could also consider Rose or Clare.
Question from me is how to persuade DH - he says for him it's associated too much with the McCann case and makes him feel sad, so I think for us it's off the list...

If DS had been a girl we would have named her 'Madeleine Grace' - it's a lovely name; so what if it is 'overused'? It is popular for a reason and to be honest, how often do people use the middle name?

My DS has a top five boy's name, apart from our neighbour's dog Grin - we don't know any friends/family/acquaintances with the same name.

Madeline Maria
Madeleine Fleur
Madeleine Sian

Grace goes well, but it's way over-used. Exactly how I feel, it's become a bit of a 'filler' name, which is a shame, but of course names become popular because they work and are well-liked.

Love Leila - adding it to the list!

Some lovely suggestions, thank you. We don't have any nice family names. We kind of took a stance when naming our son to not use a family name (my dad is deceased and though it would have been a nice touch his name really isn't nice - he really hated it himself - so we decided to just go with names we loved and thought worked well together).

gingerdad oh perfect! I don't know how I hadn't thought of this as I suggested Kate as another first name option to DH the other night. He said it wasn't 'complete enough' as a first but it sounds so lovely next to Madeleine. Thank you! Am also thinking short name ideally, I think it will flow the best with our a longer first name and our surname.

Fiddler Emily is lovely too! Perhaps being silly but would spell MEW in initials, DH is a bit funny about any potentially comic sounds as initials but I reckon he overthinks it! Thanks for risking the out!

Have just remembered the other middle name I really like is Hope - I think it works and would be very appropriate to our journey - but am not sure if it would saddle her with a back story instead of just a name? Is that silly?

Grace goes well, but it's way over-used. How about Leila, Lila or Laura?

GothJoose · 24/11/2015 21:29

Madeleine Jean
Madeleine Marie
Madeleine Victoria

We went with a short middle name. Kate.

Madeleine is lovely. Is there a family name that fits if you're unsure - a mother/grandmother's name on either side that you like?
