Persian names

So I am really getting ahead of myself here as I only just started my first IVF cycle BUT I want to do some positive pfb visualization Wink

DH is originally from Tehran and I am really keen to choose names which have some Persian links. We are hoping that our child will speak both Farsi and English at home but DH is keen to avoid religious names. Problem is that I can't think of any Persian names I really like.... So what do folks think of:

Roxanna (Sting's 80's whore and a drinking game when I was at university...) Confused
Azar
Rosita

Or for boys...

Anoush
Caspar (friendly ghost?)
Cyrus

(I quite like Darius too, but I can't do it because Pop Idol.)

Be honest, I can take it!! Grin

I have a vested interest in Persian names too! These are my favourites:

Boys -

Amir
Ali

Girls -

Parvaneh
Leila
Farrah

I love Anahita and Sasha - will see what DH thinks. My girls' names list definitely needs attention!

How about Lana or Sasha for a girl?

Anahita

Cartoon camels and cringesome Pop Idol associations are pesky indeed!

YoungGirlGrowingOld · 16/11/2015 12:26

Thank you both! I like Rosita too - can always use "Rose" if she thinks it's too unusual Smile Camelia is the name of a cartoon camel in the ME country where I have been working Blush so I might swerve that one, although I love Camilla (and I assume they are connected).

My favourite out of the boys is probably Caspar, but the friendly ghost thing really bugs me (and he might get the mickey taken mercilessly and hate me forever!) Cyrus could also be "Cy" or "Si" so it's less obviously Persian unless you know....

Lots of food for thought - TY!

I like your boys names but am not crazy about your girls list.

What about Camelia for a girl? That's Persian I believe and very pretty.

I love Rosita! Beautiful name. Not 100% sure about your boys list. I do like Caspar (I see your concerns about the ghost though) Cyrus is nice also. Hope that helps x
