what is the most unusual name you have heard irl?

Heard today:-

Spring-rose

At the doctors the other day was deliah-rose. Thought it was a misspell for Delilah but then maybe it's Delia?

And the when I worked in a nursery there was a little boy called deneil. Not too bad you say, till you knew his older brother was called Neil Hmm

More likely Spain.
Although some people do use "de Jesus" as middle names.

My uncle has a good friend called Jesus. It's quite common in Portugal (I think, could be Spain?)

micah. Must be the same bloke. He went to Teeside uni and used to doodle a little aeroplane for his signature. Would be in his 40s now I guess.

I suppose Christ is really no worse than Madonna.

One of the most inept names I've met personally ( a teachers child) must be Imogen with a hard g. As in g for goat.
Of course everyone gets it 'wrong'.

My sister has taught a Geeq , pronounced Geek, and a Christ.

Pretty, Beautiful, and Darling don't even raise an eyebrow in some boroughs.

I used to work in an organisation where someone had legally changed their name to two numbers.

I won't give their actual name as they're (obviously) very Googleable, but their full name went something like Eight Twenty-two.

How do all you teachers possibly manage to keep a straight face calling out the registrar.Tweety Pie and Lollypop. Sorry but I'd be ROFPMSL.
Why do parents give their children such potentially tease worthy names. Do they have nothing to think with.

Though they'd both changed their names by deed poll rather then those being the birth names.

I knew someone at uni who was Pho-ay-bay spelt Phoebe.

My (late, American) SIL taught twins named Lemonjello (Le-MON-jallo) and Orangejello (Or-ANGE-ello). Apparently someone she knew taught a Shithead (Shi-THEAD). All of these fall into urban myth territory though, and I can't ask her if they were true. Sad

I think those saying we don't grasp the concept of different cultural names are a bit snotty.

The point of the thread was to discuss unusual names - names outside of our own culture are going to be unusual - nowt to do with grasping it!
