Hello
Comments / opinions on our shortlist please :)
Also any further suggestions based on the kind of names we like?
Flora
Cora
Annabel, nickname Bel
Mila
Marla
Alana
Carey
Names we like but can't use:
Iris - our surname starts with S
Nancy - c sound clashes with surname
Thanks so much in advance!

Ivy

elor11 · 04/11/2015 17:59

From list I like Flora and Annabell, and maybe Marla, Alana.
Martha, Eliza, Bethan, Orla

Narp · 04/11/2015 18:01

We have a spider named Cora. Grin. Great name.
Marla is very pretty
Flora is horrible sorry.
Love Annabelle. But not Bel. I much prefer Anna
Alana is okay but s bit meh
Don't like Carey.

Other suggestions.
Vivienne
Victoria
Meridith
Merryn
Astrid
Catherine

crumbs12 · 04/11/2015 20:39

Thanks for the feedback! I like Juliet and Vivienne but DH is a bit meh about them.
Others are nice names but nothing jumps out.
We can't really have anything with a 'th' sound in the first name as it appears in our surname and would just be too much of a mouthful.
Keep the suggestions coming, really helpful!

I'm not keen on Cora....but love, love, love Flora. I also love Dora.

Suggestions:

Freya
Marnie
Tessa

pilates · 04/11/2015 21:06

Alana is the only one I like.

crumbs12 · 04/11/2015 21:35

Marnie I like. Freya rejected by DH :(
Tessa is too many s's with our surname...
Glad there is some love for flora. What would be the nicknames for flora? Not so keen on flo...

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/11/2015 21:37

Flora is so easy to say I don't think it would have a nickname. Florrie? But that almost takes longer to say.

ashesandfire · 04/11/2015 21:55

I love Cora and Flora.
Marla is really awful sorry.
How about Clara? Lara, Lyra, Mirabel, Ariana, Louisa, Anya.

autumnmoon · 04/11/2015 22:20

Like Cora or Alana best from your list.

What about
Carla
Marley
Cassie
Connie
Lara

I think Carla is particularly lovely - met a little girl a while back with this name and thought it sounded very refreshing!

crumbs12 · 04/11/2015 22:38

Ooh some lovely suggestions there. Anya has been on and off the list a fair bit and I do like Lara but we have a Luke already and therefore would be a bit close to Star Wars!
Carla is a sweet name but feels a bit dated to me.
Clara I like but something is holding me back there
Take your point Through about a possible nickname for Flora..

OP posts:
reuset · 04/11/2015 22:41

Flora - lovely. The one I know is occasionally, if at all, shortened to Flor
Cora - ok
Annabel, nickname Bel - nice, fine
Mila - meh
Marla - no
Alana - ok
Carey - awful

Tirfarthoin · 04/11/2015 22:41

Ciara would go with you list and is lovely or Orla

manicinsomniac · 05/11/2015 16:38

Flora - it's ok. Would probably use Florence and shorten.
Cora - it's ok. Much prefer Cara
Annabel, nickname Bel - really like Annabel but not Bel.
Mila - love it
Marla - love it but have only come across it spelled Mala which I like even better (poss only because it's the name of one of my best friends though!)
Alana - really like it
Carey - never come across. I don't think I'm keen.

Other ideas:

crumbs12 · 06/11/2015 13:41

I like Orla and Lana, thanks will add to my list.
Bel doesn't seem to be a popular nn for annabel. Is it the spelling (does Belle have a nicer look to it?) or we quite like Annie, any opinions on that?
