I say go for it. Lovely, elegant name. Would your DD mind?

MissBattleaxe · 27/10/2015 21:55

Sorry Louisa not Louis. Silly phone.

elor11 · 27/10/2015 21:07

I think it's fine. Would def use my son's middle name if I had another. Although my husband says no. It's just a random name tho. Are you choosing to honour sister or just cause you love the name so much.

Borninthe60s · 27/10/2015 20:51

Nope! You can't. Can you use your sisters mn?

MissBattleaxe · 27/10/2015 20:04

if anything Louis is a classic name used by Janet Austen in Persuasion. Op go for it. It's a lovely elegant name. Xx

ragged · 27/10/2015 19:59

Hmmm, the only Louise's I know were born in 1964 & 2001.

There's a Louisa in my family tree born in 1898.
Not 1980s names at all.

Imogenlasting · 27/10/2015 16:22

Louise, definitely a 70s/80s name.
But I wouldn't say the same about Louisa. It's quite an old fashioned classical name.

scatterthenuns · 27/10/2015 15:14

Louise/Louisa scream 80s/early 90s middle name to me.

Imogenlasting · 27/10/2015 10:53

I wouldn't see Louisa as an 80s name scatter. I agree, though, that Eloise is a beautiful name, and in the same vein as Louisa.

ragged · 26/10/2015 20:30

I would ask your sis if she minded & go from there. Other things are not obstacles in my mind.

I don't like Eloise or Elise at all half as much.

scatterthenuns · 26/10/2015 20:15

How about Eloise? Much prettier, much less 80s.

mayaknew · 26/10/2015 16:50

No she doesn't use it day to day. Although he has been know to write her middle initial when writing her name (10yo budding little author Grin)

Ha my sister is already vain enough without her thinking I'm obsessed with her Grin

What about elise? I think it sounds similar

Lunastarfish · 26/10/2015 16:19

I think it's too similar but that said your dd1 doesn't use her md day to day does she? If not then you could probably get away with it albeit maybe somewhat obsessed with your sister Grin

Creatureofthenight · 26/10/2015 16:18

I wouldn't as you have already used Louise for DD1.
