My child is going to be nameless. Losing the will to live!!

Baby due in 5 weeks and my husband and I can't agree on names. Correction - I'm trying to think of names and he couldn't care less. No interest. Our 2 year old son is Milo and it's the perfect name for him. I feel like I used my favourite name when I named him and now I'm scuppered. We don't know the sex. I don't want a name that's too popular. On my list (I say 'my' cause I'm clearly doing this naming business solo) I have Sebastian/Seb (but becoming very popular), Wesley/Wes, Howell (dh totally vetoing though), Gabriel (but worried he'll be called 'gay' at school - am I over-thinking this?). We were going to use Jed, but someone we know has just used it.

For girls, I love Inés, but I know it will be mispronounced. I also like Ramona, but not sure I'm in love with it. I want a strong girl's name - nothing too flowery. I like Meredith, but himself says no. I did like Merryn for a while, but I've gone off it a bit.

Anyway, I'm really looking for other suggestions based on the names above. Please help before I have an unnamed child in my arms and divorce papers in my pocket.

ImperialBlether - they are extremely close. My ds means the world to him and I think that's part of the problem - he can't imagine loving another child as much. Milo is enough for him. I hope that changes when the baby is born.

There are some lovely suggestions on this thread. I'm going to add a few of them to the list. I think it's harder to find a boy's name that I love.

Have you asked milo which he likes? I let dd1 choose from my very short list - she picked the best name
I love merryn she was my babysitter when I was little. Jed is great too though I know it as being short for Jeremy - which I also like

From your list I really like Sebastian, and I think Ramona is totally fab.

I'm not keen on Jed, sounds as though it should be short for something!

Other names I like are Jasper, Rufus, Miranda, Hester.

I have a Margaret called Maggie, which I love. I'm American though and don't have any Thatcher associations. :) I also liked Frances, Phoebe, Harriet, and Louisa.

My boys are Sam and Will, which suit them. At least I think so. Poor Will is five months old and only gets called his actual name about a quarter of the time. The rest of the time he's just "the baby" or "Yum Yum" (my toddler's pronunciation of William.) I also call him Zeke a lot, which is our puppy's name. .

I don't love Gabriel but I know a lot of them so that could be why.

I was just browsing through and just wanted to say please don't choose Melena as pp suggested, Melaena (pronounced the same) is the term for foul-smelling black liquid poo that you get after bleeding into your bowel and digesting the blood.

When dh was saying no to names it used to drive me mad, so I told him if he wanted to say no to a name, he had to replace it.
In the end i picked dds name myself and told him how much I loved it, and he loved it too, it really suits her perfectly.
I hope you find a great name, please come back and tell us what you picked, I like a lot of your names. Best wishes

I was going to suggest Zoe but was beaten to it, Tamar is a great idea.

I don't know if it's too flowery/posh-pretentious but was wondering about Seraphina/Serafina.
Or scaling right back and seeing the names you considered, maybe Ina [pronounced eye-nah]?

For a brother for Milo, Alexis/Alexander or Troy.

I hope it's just the case tht DH appears to be very absorbed with pfb and not daring to show interest in DC2 because it's been challenging and until the baby's actually here, he can't quite risk getting attached, iyswim. None of which makes life easy for you .

I think Hugo goes cute with Milo, but so does Rory and Noah!
I think another 4 letter, 2 syllable name :)
Any of your girl names would go good...
