DD2 on the way ??. If I am honest, I felt pushed into choosing my DD's name by DH (it was v important to him as it was his mother's name) and although I like it, it would not have been my choice. I do and always have loved Cosette. I know it's from Les Mis and that it isn't even a real name but I just love it. My DD's name had a french vibe so it would go. But is it totally ridiculous??? Xx

I knew you'd (mostly) all hate it! Maybe it's just as well DH named DD. Her name is uncommon in RL but v popular on here. I still love it but I'd worry I'd lumbered her with a name she and others may hate. It's not actually even a name in France (half of my family are french) but I love the sound.

Back to the drawing board.... Might be able to get DH to agree Josette or Juliet (I love ette /et endings!!) Are either of those any better? Josette is diminutive for Josephine in France xx

Odette or Colette would win for me over Cosette. I'm afraad I agree about it sounding like some sort of product.

But, of you absolutly love it, just go for it!

I love Cosette, but then I love Les Miserables Grin.

I love Eponine more, but I wouldn't count on everyone you meet being able to pronounce it.

Cosette nn Ettie is absolutely fine. As a PP suggested, Colette is also nice.

I think it sounds like a lovely little fleece-lined pod that you could put your baby in if you lived in snowy places.

Euphrasie. The girl was called Euphrasie. There is an interesting passage in the book about this name and also about names shortenings.

NOt a name much used in France, for all its 'French vibe'. Horrible. And I detest Les Mis the musical, so some bias creeping in there I think.

Cosette is actually called Euphrasie. Cosette is a corruption of chosette, which means little thing.

In Ireland Colette is a real Doreen or Mavis name.
