Down to five names.
Two syllable surname beginning with S.
Middle names will be Cecilia Joan (Both family names)

Laurel
Adeline
Bethan
Etta
Catrin

Opinions please, go on do your worst...

Cheers all. Our concern about Adeline is pronunciation, I don't like the "lin" or "leen" ending.

I would pronounce Adeline as Ad-a-line. However, I work with one who recently corrected me after I'd been saying it like that for months - apparently it's Ad-a-leen.

Which to me is a reason to avoid the name, lovely as it is, as nothing more tedious than a lifetime of correcting pronunciation.

I love Etta. I like Laurel and like Sorrel even more? Really like Bethan though prefer Bethany (I am biased though), but that definitely is girlier.
Catrin is OK. I far far prefer Adelaide and Madeleine to Adeline, which I would pn to rhyme with line.

Adeline should be pronounced Adeleen imo.
I hate the -line pronunciation, as it reminds me of the barbershop song Sweet Adeline pronounced that way. When pronounced Adelin, it sounds like Madeleine that somehow lost its M.
I prefer Adelina (-leena) anyway -- does away with all confusion.

My favourite from your list is Laurel (very much a girl's name ime).
I like Etta too, but would be tempted to use Henrietta or Harriet on the BC.
I like Adelina but not Adeline.

I don't like Bethan or Catrin.
Catrin sounds to my Irish ear like a west of Ireland pronunciation of Catherine.
Bethan is a bit inelegant imo. I class it with Morag along with other names that are unnecessarily clunky.

Laurel is definitely a girls' name. Perhaps you are thinking of Stan Laurel?

No to Laurel, it's not nice and is a boy's name.

The only name I like from your list is Bethan. But Bethany would sound better with a surname starting with S.
