FWIW, I never gave an opinion on the name Riley. I gave an opinion on the name Blake (which is what you asked for) comparative to Riley. I like one more than the other. Fucking hell, get a grip!

Kcooper - your last comment is completely uncalled for. Mumsnet is a forum where people give their views and opinions. If you don't want people to disagree with you, then Mumsnet is really not the place for you. You cannot dictate who posts on threads, whether you started them or not.

There are some truly unisex nicknames - Alex and Sam being the most obvious. Most others have a gender indicator in the spelling - Jo/Joe, Tony/Toni etc. There are very few totally unisex names. Mostly because once a name becomes known on girls it is considered unusable for boys.

Not keen personally. But I don't like the whole surname /boys name on girls thing. You obviously do so go for it. People won't be totally flummoxed because of Blake Lively.

Disagree wholeheartedly. Understand what you are saying about Blake as a boys name now used for girls, but names like Alex are truly unisex.

It's not a unisex name. It's a last name which is sometimes used for boys. There is no such thing as a unisex name- there are boy's names which are used for girls and then stop being boy's names and become girl's names. Because people won't give a bit a name perceived to be a girl's name. Which is worth thinking about.

My boyfriend is called Blake. Only woman I know is Blake lively. Upto you though! Riley I see as a male name also so Blake and Riley probably would suit together for you
