'Masculine' girls names?

Posting for my pregnant best friend. She is expecting a girl and really likes 'masculine' girls names (like Alex or Sydney nn Sid) but we're struggling to come up with many.

What masculine girls names are there? Including nick names?

Her father was convinced she was a boy and wanted a boy. They chose the name Barrie and stuck with it when it turned out she wasn't a boy! Her middle name is Clare but her father insisted she be known as Barrie!

Her father sounds like an idiot who couldn't announce his disappointment in any clearer terms!

Barrie! FFS.

Has Alex been mentioned? Or Charlotte (Charlie)?
I think of feminine names as names such as Holly, Poppy, Ava, Maria, Rose, Wendy, Sarah, Juliet Elizabeth, Emma etc. There are many many names that particularly feminine names - Megan, Imogen, Helen, Joanne etc .Some would describe them as 'strong' names but to me they are names that if said aloud and were unfamiliar, one wouldn't necessarily know if they were male or female.

Seconding Rory, though personally would make it just that as I find Aurora a bit much.

Ilooki I've never heard of a man called Florence! Are you in the UK? I know a few Florians / Florents, so I suppose it isn't that surprising

The male Florences I know are Irish. Not very common these days for young children but not unheard of either. It is a popular male name in the south of Ireland.

Its not unlike Laurence. So OP I give you Florence and Laurie?

The Toni I know wasn't shortened for Antonia or anything. Her dad was Tony so only the spelling changed. She'd be about 13 now and another I know is 15.

For what it's worth I'm quite an elegant girly with a man's name and I love it. People say it really suits me.

I named dd Blake. I have family in America who say it's used frequently for girls. I do get mixed reactions to it, mainly the Hmm faces are from older generations but we love it. I also know a few girls called Ray and Toni.

Florence?

I know a few men called this although its probably not going to be popular to say that for all mums of Florences on here who like 'pretty girly names' :)

My mum is Lenore nicknamed Leni and if DS2 was a girl he would have been Valentina nicknamed Leni.

A lot of the names mentioned here are in the top 100 so think all kinds of girls will have these nanes babylove - might not be your cup of tea but obviously popular with a lot of others. Names don't define a person - I don't like frilly floral names but I wouldn't assume that they would only suit a particular type of girl.

What an odd thing to say BabyLove. Anyone can hate their name - including plenty of pretty pretty names. But just because someone is "feminine and elegant" doesn't mean that they want a frilly name. I know I dissed her naming choices up thread, but Blake Lively and her co star Leighton Meister are good examples. Blake has gone on record as loving her name.
