Margot or Marlowe as baby sister for Archer?

Which baby girl name to you prefer; the more traditional Margot - or the more alternative Marlowe? We're still looking for the right baby girl name, to go with our son's name which is Archer (nn Archie sometimes).

My db's friend 'Mal' actually has the Christian name Marlow. I only found out recently had thought for the last 20 years it was just a nik name relating to his surname but ....no.

I like both but they seem very different names.
Margot, classic but can be nn Maggot. Works better in other languages.

Marlowe, sounds feminine to me, much quirkier name.

Why does it have to "go" with Archer? More important that it goes with her surname surely?

If the names suit the children, then what's wrong with having Zaphod Beeblebrox and his sister Elizabeth Victoria?

Thanks everyone! A lot of you seem to be kind of of the same opinion as DH and I, that Margot is the nicer name but that Marlowe 'goes better' with Archer. I keep asking people the same question and hoping for a different answer! But no, this really is the case! Hmm. We've always loved Margot so I think we'll probably stick with it, even if it doesn't make the best pair. Our DS does get called Archie a fair bit while he is a toddler, so I guess that works ok with Margot.
(On the celebrity name front, yes it was Sienna Miller who named her little girl Marlowe - personally, of the surnamey-names, I think Marlowe sounds more feminine but I suppose they can all swing either way.)

Marlowe matches Archer more as a surname type name. I think it's quite trendy sounding too - have there been some celeb baby Marlowes recently?

I know you have not asked for my opinion but I would tend towards slender vowels in a girl's name and broad vowels for a boy.
Margot sounds like a hefty young one.

This reminds me of sitting in a park in fulham and PRESTON being called every 30 seconds. Preston was a little shit.
Marlowe to me would be either a surname or boys name.
Actually come to think of it wasnt there a film about a dog called Marlowe?

Marlowe for a girl is lovely. It sounds too feminine for a boy so im surprised so many think of it as a boys' name

Margot is too old lady. If your DS was Archie short for Archibald, then I'd suggest carrying on the theme for older names, but as you've gone with the much cooler Archer then Marlowe is a great choice.

Archer and Marlowe, really nice.
