Just wondering what people think of the following names and how easy you think they are to pronounce:

Sana
Aleena
Ammarah
Sanaya
Mariya (MAR-ri-yuh)
Zahra/Zara
Zoya
Zaynah
Layla
Samarah

Thanks!

They're all really pretty, And easy to pronounce. I think the ones ending in 'ya' need a 'h' on the end though eg: , zoyah, mariyah etc

Branleuse · 06/10/2015 16:39

theyre all rather nice. I especially like Zoya

PallasCat · 06/10/2015 16:33

Love Zoya, Zaynah, Sana, Amarrah, Sanaya, Samarah...
And I like all the rest too!

I wonder if Mariya would tend to be pronounced like Maria or Mariah, though? I think that's the one with a potential pronunciation risk out of the shortlist.

Aleena is lovely.

Sumarah is pretty too but it makes me think of the girl in The Ring (because that was her name, possibly spelled Samara?), which puts me off a bit.

Zara/Zahra is very nice, simple and elegant.

Just bumping for the day crowdSmile

Samarah would be Suh-MAR-rah

Zahra/Zara and Layla are my favourites, beautiful and easy to pronounce for most people I think.

Sana - wouldn't know how to pronounce it, I think it's okay but not amazing
Aleena - I like it, I would know how to pronounce it if I read it, but not how to spell it if I heard it
Ammarah- I like it
Sanaya - I like it but less than I like the others. I might pronounce it incorrectly
Mariya- I love this one but it might get confused with Maria
Zoya- this one is so cool.
Zaynah- I like it, I would probably pronounce it correctly
Samarah- I wouldn't know how to pronounce this, it's nice but not my favourite

I like Aleena, Zara, Layla and Samarah.

I like them all except Sana (which sounds like sanitary products to me!)
.
Love Zahra. That would be my favourite by a long way

mrstweefromtweesville · 05/10/2015 23:54

Sana! Use that. I have my reasons...

They're all nice. Not sure how to say 'Samarah' - S'm- ARE- uh? Sum-AIR-a?

I taught a Shazana long ago. I always liked her name and have never met anyone else with that name. Also a Shaharazat, she was nice.

Lovely names all pretty easy to pronounce.
I also love Maymunah as a name.
