Just as the thread title says.....what do you reckon? It's our first baby and so I have no idea if it is a popular/common name, as currently don't mingle with folk who have kids in nursery etc.

Lovely. Wasd one of my top choices but didn't go well with our surname. I've never met a little Clara.

trixymalixy · 04/10/2015 09:46

Lovely name. In the unlikely event that I have another girl I would call her Clara.

Squashybanana · 04/10/2015 09:40

I like it but it is very popular here. My DD (,5) has 3 friends called Clara!

PotOfYoghurt · 04/10/2015 09:21

I adore Clara. Don't know any and am around a LOT of little ones. Prefer it to Lara and Tara as well. (Which I do know a lot of)

pickleandflux · 04/10/2015 08:53

I am glad that others generally seem to like it too. We have been struggling to find a nice girl's name, and looks like Clara could well be it! Thanks for your comments :)

We have a christmas Clara. We always get comments on what a pretty name it is.

KoalaDownUnder · 04/10/2015 05:11

Yep, love it.

And I actually think Clara Helena sounds fab.

mrsschu · 04/10/2015 04:52

I'm on the fence about it - don't love it or hate it. I know 3 under the age of about 3 which leads me to believe its having a spike in popularity. I don't know any of different ages. It's certainly not a "faddy" name but I think it will be associated with little girls born from about 2013/2014 on and will probably wane again in popularity in the next 5-8 years or so. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, just something to consider.

ExBallerina · 04/10/2015 00:30

I've got one! (I love the Nutcracker too!)

Beautiful name. Only met 2 others in different points in time.

Longdistance · 04/10/2015 00:29

SakuraSakura · 04/10/2015 00:27

PrimalLass · 04/10/2015 00:22

I have a Clara Grin

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 04/10/2015 00:19

It's a lovely name.

Although I can't help but sing "long distance Clara" !

But don't worry, no one under 33 will know what that means Grin

Footle · 03/10/2015 21:04

Our family has a little Clara , pronounced Claira like her Yorkshire great grandma. We know an old lady and one in her 20s pronounced the same way. Beautiful name which she's enjoying.

helentheheron · 03/10/2015 20:49

Clara is lovely and Clara Helena is good. I don't think the two a endings matter much (unless you're planning in using both names often?) but if you prefer you could use Clara Helen (not biased at all!)

QueenOfThorns · 03/10/2015 20:30

It would be lovely to use your Gran's name, but I would avoid two names ending in an 'a' sound, sorry Sad

Helena is also a really nice name, though. I don't know any little girls called either Clara or Helena, and I have a toddler at nursery.

HumphreyCobblers · 03/10/2015 20:24

I have a Clara. Don't know any others but it is moving up the list year by year. Mine is named after the heroine in Jerusalem the Golden.

RomiiRoo · 03/10/2015 20:20

Clara would have been on my list for DC2 except he is a boy! I prefer it to Claire.
Not sure about Clara Helena though, I am afraid. Both lovely but not sure about them together.

pickleandflux · 03/10/2015 20:06

For the middle name we had been hoping to use my Gran's name (Helena) but am not sure if it goes with Clara.

KittensandKids · 03/10/2015 20:04

I think it's lovely. Smile

QueenOfThorns · 03/10/2015 20:03

It's a really pretty name. Have you thought of a middle name to go with it?

Peaceloveandjammydodgers · 03/10/2015 20:00

I love it, and it's such a nice change from Holly/Noelle Christmas baby names :)

Yika · 03/10/2015 19:58

I love it. I live in Belgium and it's very popular here. I also really love Claire though I know it's out of favour these days. A beautiful classic.

MrsGinnyPotter · 03/10/2015 19:55

I love it! Love Dr Who
