Do you know any Felicitys? If so, what are they like and do they have a nn?

I have a newborn DD named Felicity...she is registered, it's a done deal. DP and I bickered from 16 weeks onwards over what to call her. I wanted to call her Arabella, he like Georgia, so we compromised on Felicity as an 'it's ok' name for us both.
Now she's here it's just not right. It feels too formal for a tiny baby, and I know she will be an adult for a long time and a baby for the blink of an eye but I haven't actually used her name at all except when asked directly what it is. I call her Floss, which DP hates, but it suits my sweet smelling, scrumptious DD.
I guess I'm just wondering what connotations the name has for people, and what nicknames people have heard for it. I dislike Flick, before anyone suggests that one!

I'm one I get fizz, fee, fil, fliss or flick! I now pretty much answer to any name that starts with an f! Grin

Abraid2 · 26/09/2015 18:38

Felix. I know it's usually male, but not in this case.

Loula117 · 26/09/2015 18:36

My first best friend was (still is!) Felicity, and she's always been lovely, I think it's a woefully underused name. I always called her Fliss although she was also known as Feli. And it means happiness. Good choice OP!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 26/09/2015 18:33

I know one, she's in her 70s and everyone calls her Flick. She's very wise and is a bit of an old hippy, but a very classy hippy.

BackInTheRealWorld · 26/09/2015 18:33

I know 3. They are all very different - as they would be, a name doesn't change your personality.
One is known as Flea and the other 2 are called Fliss.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 26/09/2015 18:30

22 months!

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 26/09/2015 18:29

I have one, she's 2 months. I adore her name and it gets lots of compliments. I don't shorten it, my dad calls her Fliss. She can't say it herself yet and calls herself Tatty!

Creatureofthenight · 26/09/2015 18:28

Only know one, late 20s, who is known by family as Phil!

SecretBondGirl · 26/09/2015 18:26

Felicity Kendalls nn is Foo she was born in the Far East and it means fortune in chinese

NewLife4Me · 26/09/2015 18:21

We met a 12 year old Felicity with her mum.
She called her Fliss.

BeeMyBaby · 26/09/2015 18:14

I'm one, and love it. I still occasionally get compliments on what a nice name it is and it translates well so most people understand the meaning. I was called Fizzy from when I was a baby until I was about 15 when I swapped schools and decided to go with felicity instead, but fizzy suits a young girl very well I think. Only downside for me is people occasionally trip over the name and say facility.

OverScentedFanjo · 26/09/2015 18:13

It's a lovely name.

Get some of the Felicity Wishes Fairy books for her.

I think we all have a panic after naming our DC.

Don't worry, it is a beautiful name.

It's meaning is, as I'm sure you know is "Happiness"

BigGreenOlives · 26/09/2015 18:06

Tilly. She's lovely & in her late teens

redskybynight · 26/09/2015 18:06

I know a Felicity called "Fle" and my brother knows one called "Felix".

LittleMissPear · 26/09/2015 18:03

My name is Felicity. I've always liked it and often get complimented on it. I'm called Flick by friends and family but use Felicity at work as it's more formal. The only issue with Flick as a nn is that it looks like Fuck when written down, can cause issues!

BigRedBall · 26/09/2015 17:54

The last felicity I knew was Holly Valance in Neightbours Grin..flick.

Please don't use Fliss as a nn...there's a FlissPaps username on here, always makes me laugh.

I like lissy, or flick tbh.

MadameJosephine · 26/09/2015 17:51

I love Felicity it's a fabulous name. I've only met one who has the head teacher at my DS's primary school, she was a lovely woman and we all called her Lissy

QOD · 26/09/2015 17:48

Flick and she's cute and crazy!

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 26/09/2015 16:46

Lovely name. I know one in her late 30s and one in her late teens. They both are known as Fliss, which I really like too.

Curiouserandcuriouser30 · 26/09/2015 16:45

Have you considered Flick? Grin

I know one who goes by Fliss, but personally I think Floss is cute and if it suits her and you like it then I would stick with it. Tell your DH that as you are the one who went through labour and childbirth then you get to decide it will grown on him!

Wilberforce2 · 26/09/2015 16:43

I know two Felicity's one is Fliss for a NN and the other is Lity.

It's horrible when you feel like you have made a mistake with a name, my dad is 19 months now and I still don't love her name Confused

FrenchPlaits · 26/09/2015 16:43

I know two adults called Felicity with nn Fliss, and one with nn Flick. The little Felicity I know of (7 yrs old) is Cece, because her brother couldn't say felicity and called her this.

I like Floss. I think Felicity is a lovely name, too - much nicer than Arabella!

Pandora978 · 26/09/2015 16:41

I know an almost 6 year old Felicity, she goes by Fliss for a NN. I think Felicity suits all ages actually, even babies as it's such a light, airy, girly name but it's formal sounding enough to work on an adult as well. It's one of my absolute favourite names.

scatterthenuns · 26/09/2015 16:37

I'm a 30 year old Felicity. I'm Fliss.

OverAndAbove · 26/09/2015 16:34

Lissy seems to be the nickname of choice around here. I love it!
