A brother for Artemisia

Originally it was going to be Lucian...yep we are those parents. But we got cold feet and decided it was too wanky even for us. (I love Lucian to any Lucian owners, but we thought in combination with Artemisia, it was a bit...hmm)

So then, after much discussion, the only name we could agree on, was Milo. But we have now come across, not one, not two, but THREE dogs called Milo. Apparently it is in the top ten dog names in the UK. This has... put us off. And we don't like Miles.

Names I like, which DH has roundly rejected:

Tobias
Marcus
Sebastian
Casper
Silas
Felix

Anyone got any good suggestions, before we name our son this generation's equivalent of Rex?

I am 39+6 and getting a bit worried that we seem to have NO candidates. DH has been totally unable to come up with any suggestions.

Ivo.

Loving lots of these suggestions! Especially like Cosmo, Quentin, Lucius (which autocorrects to mucus...hmm) Tycho, Linus

The problem is, I think DH is getting cold feet about his DS having an unusual name. After some prodding, he has come up with Alexander and Francis (after F Bacon). I like both...but not sure I love them. I am quite keen on Tycho though and it sounds a bit like Milo, so perhaps DH could be convinced.

MumsKnitter unfortunately one of the dogs is a recent acquisition by friends and another is regularly walked in our local park. I've only just realised he's called Milo though.

I really do like Lucian, and strongly prefer it to Milo. Also like Quentin which I see has been suggested.

Other suggestions in hopefully a similar vein...
Cosmo
Orlo
Mungo
Lucius
Aldous
Ambrose
Aloysius
Damien

Minimaus · 22/09/2015 16:31

I'm not keen on Milo, sorry. It does seem to suit a dog better imo.

I love Marcus, Quentin and Caspar! Not so keen on Lucian, it reminds me too much of Lucifer.

MumsKnitter · 22/09/2015 12:14

I think you should go with Milo regardless. You've just had an unlucky run to meet three canine ones, and will probably never meet another again!

CakeRattleandRoll · 22/09/2015 06:06

Love Silas and Felix from your list. How about:

Hector
Linus
Leander
Nestor
Orion
Amadeus
Erasmus
Cyrus
Tycho
Darius

What about
Cosimo
Xavier
Llewelyn

Or short
Kit

DD says how about Apollo? Artemis's brother?

Lucian is good though

I was going to say Lysander too, how about:

Gabriel
Ezekiel
Keir
Montgomery
Halbert
James

therealsquireofwideacre · 20/09/2015 19:53

Telemachus?

eddiethehorse · 20/09/2015 19:53

Mine is the other Artemisia thread...watch out though, not many people like the name...I like Gabriel for a boy. What does your Artemisia get called for short?

Artemisia is a gorgeous name but you probably don't want another artist really. Do you? Because Reuben goes well with Artemisia.

ediepop · 20/09/2015 19:27

I like Lucas, but I have a niece called Lucasta.

thoroughly outs self to anyone who knows any of my family

Somebody link me to the Artemisia thread!

Why not Lucian. The 2 go quite well.

MTPurse · 20/09/2015 19:26

Sorry but I have never heard of Artemisia, How is it pronounced?

Gruach · 20/09/2015 19:25

Stick with Lucian. It's a fabulous name - and goes well with your DD.

ediepop · 20/09/2015 19:24

Ha! Ptolemy! My nephew had a veeerrry narrow escape from being called Ptolemy. My sister occasionally still says she wishes she'd been brave enough. I actually love the NN Tolly, which makes me think of the Green Knowe books, which I loved as a child.
