A brother for Artemisia

Originally it was going to be Lucian...yep we are those parents. But we got cold feet and decided it was too wanky even for us. (I love Lucian to any Lucian owners, but we thought in combination with Artemisia, it was a bit...hmm)

So then, after much discussion, the only name we could agree on, was Milo. But we have now come across, not one, not two, but THREE dogs called Milo. Apparently it is in the top ten dog names in the UK. This has... put us off. And we don't like Miles.

Names I like, which DH has roundly rejected:

Tobias
Marcus
Sebastian
Casper
Silas
Felix

Anyone got any good suggestions, before we name our son this generation's equivalent of Rex?

I am 39+6 and getting a bit worried that we seem to have NO candidates. DH has been totally unable to come up with any suggestions.

Paris

Artandco · 25/09/2015 21:51

Rudyard, nn Rudi

Misnomer · 25/09/2015 21:45

You definitely can't go for Linus. He was the kid in Peanuts who always had flies around him.

I like Ptolemy. Atticus is great but too alliterative under the circumstances. Benjamin is really sweet. Casper was on my list (with the friendly ghost spelling!). I love Rufus too. I really like Francis too but not the abbreviations.

dementedma · 25/09/2015 21:32

Caspian

thaliablogs · 25/09/2015 21:31

Horatio! I wanted to call DS horatio but got vetoed by DH. You sound brave enough to use it.

RiverTam · 25/09/2015 21:29

BIL is a Benedict, it's a lovely name. Alexander nn Sasha would be nice.

There's a Horace at DD's school. And there was a Thorin at her nursery (yes, it's that kind of area Smile).

What about Otto?

camtt · 25/09/2015 21:28

what about Rufus? Only know one, it is a bit weird and posh but I still like it. Although I guess there may still be some dogs named Rufus.

Artandco · 25/09/2015 21:25

Caspian
Timotheo
Cyrus
Aurelien
Ludovic
Florian
Stanley
Walter
Ernest

ediepop · 25/09/2015 21:14

I think that's the problem. I only really like the weird and posh names. Grin

From your list, myotheruser, I like Benedict (but would be worried people thought I was naming after B.Cumberbatch)
Sebastian has already been rejected by DH but I do like it.
Oddly, I am quite fond of Benjamin. Benjamins always seem to be very lovely. Hmm. I will suggest to DH.

Child cruelty? Never fear...I have more where that came from Wink

Plan A still Felix, but what about Atticus?

myotherusernameisbetter · 25/09/2015 21:02

Okay - less forget the weird and the posh :o and think of things like Alexander...

Jonathan
Nicolas
Lawrence
Christopher
Matthew
Benedict
Benjamin
Sebastian
Sylvester
Oliver
Thomas

ediepop · 25/09/2015 20:53

InternationalEspionage ah! Another Artemisia lover. We are few and far between it seems. There is another Artemisia thread going, in which I have basically been accused of child cruelty for using it.

Why so sad Mrs Twee?

FartemisOwl · 25/09/2015 20:53

I think Lucian is a great name. I liked all the ones on your list too! I wouldn't worry what people's dogs are called...they should call them something normal like Fido anyway. Wink

ediepop · 25/09/2015 20:48

I love Tristan too. Definite no from DH though. Hmm.

Alexander is still where it's at where DH's concerned. Ho hum. I actually agree with a PP (sorry can't be arsed to scroll back) that Alexander is too alliterative with Artemisia and Milo is too different. But they seem to be the only two we vaguely agree on.

Deep sigh.

I am now 40+4. Anyone got any tips on flushing this baby out? Whatever his name is. Curry for dinner and I have informed DH we are DTD later. He looked like this: Confused

MrsTwee hides her head and weeps softly into her pillow.

InternationalEspionage · 25/09/2015 20:44

Felix 100%. Artemisia is absolutely beautiful. It was on my girl list. Gorgeous.

I think Ememem is taking the piss NoMummy. Wink

Umm isn't Ptarmigan a type of bird? 8-O at child being called after a bird that lives in Scotland

NoMummyNoooo · 25/09/2015 15:38

Tristan - because I love the name.

BlueChampagne · 25/09/2015 13:32

Conrad

NN Alexei would also be a change from all the Alexes. However, I would shy away from 2 with the same initial.

fleurdelacourt · 24/09/2015 11:27

Teilo? (Welsh - rhymes with Milo)

but alexander is a great name and you could always go for Xande rather than Alex as a shortening if you wanted something more unusual?

Ememem84 · 24/09/2015 09:36

Ptarmigan.
