Which name do you prefer?

Our second baby is due in just a few weeks time and, whilst we've settled on a boy's name, we're struggling to decide on a girl's one. Our first child is called Evelyn Rose (known as Evie mostly) and we have a one syllable surname.

Which do you prefer of:
Nell Alexandra
Eleanor Grace (known as Nell)
Esme Grace

Or any of the first names above with a different middle name?

We've got stuck so any help much appreciated!

Nell is short for Eleanor, so I'd go Eleanor and then Nell as a NN

And there were on,y 51 Helens born in England last year- so it's incredibly unusual as well as being lovely and classic.

I adore Nell- but as a shortening, not a main name.

So Eleanor Grace known as Nell is my favourite.

Or How about Helen? My niece is Helen Alexandra !

Eleanor, followed by Esme.

I don't like Nell on its own at all.

I love Esme, but I think it's too similar to Evie too.

Thank you so much for your responses. Actually settling on a name is so hard, isn't it! To be honest I'm not all that keen on the nn Ellie so perhaps that's something I'll have to take into consideration as well.

I like Esme best. Esme Alexandra is a lovely combo.
Nell is nice as a nn but a bit short for a standalone name with a one syllable surname.
Eleanor will get called Ellie which I dislike.
How about Alexandra as a first name? Evelyn and Alexandra go beautifully.

The thing with Eleanor is that there are tonnes of little ellies, so she will most likely want to be ellie too as soon as she is old enough. Evie and ellie are really similar!

I wouldn't worry about the shortened form- she is bound to pick her own when she is older. (If I was Nell I would quickly change it to Elllie)

As you have a one-syllable surname, I'd avoid a one syllable name in case it just sounds too abrupt, or the nn is a lengthening (Nell becoming Nelly).

I think Alexandra is a lovely name, but of the choices as written I'd go for Eleanor Grace.
