Leonardo Socrates?

Hello what do you think of Leonardo Socrates? Too prentious? Struggling with what to put after Leonardo!

Seeing as you ask, yes, too pretentious!

My first thought was that this was a spoof thread. If you are going to pick one name, I'd suggest Leonardo. Socrates is very hard to pull off unless you are Greek, even as a middle name.

I don't like it.
I know someone who has Leonardo as a middle name and he is embarrassed about it.
Admittedly times have changed and lots of names we considered gross are now in vogue.

Socratis (not Socrates if you are Greek) is in use in Greece although not very common but would seem weird if you have no connection to either Greece or philosophy. I am Greek and a philosopher and sadly DP vetoed both Aristotelis and Nichomaxos!

Socrates is ridiculously try hard, please don't saddle the child with it.

Leonardo is a strange choice if you aren't Italian or a mutant turtle, imo. Leo or Leon possibly?

If you're in the UK I hope your son goes to a naice school or grows very large very quickly, but Leo/Leonardo is a great name, he doesn't have to tell anyone his middle name.

Ummmm. Sounds a bit OTT to me. I hope the child's surname is something suitably memorable and not Williams, Brown, Davies etc.

Socrates is fine if you have Greek heritage. Otherwise could need some explaining. Great names with appropriate background.

Sounds like a boy in ds reception class. My ds said this boy is called Alex doctor. So I referred to him as Alex and ds said, no, alex doctor. Ds speech is not that clear and finally figured out when I saw his coat peg this kid is called Aristotle!!!!

Leonardo is quite nice. Socrates just sounds Greek, which is fine if you're Greek.
