Names help DC1

Hi

We are expecting DC1 early next year and I thought we had got names decided - well 2 or 3 for but DH has decided he has gone off a couple and friend just had a baby and used one (we hadn't discussed names so she didn't know)

Would love to hear some of your suggestions based in our current thoughts

Boys

Toby
Henry - dH not keen on this now
Alfie - friend used
Oscar - cousin has child with this name but not a close family

Girls

Ivy
Rosie
Amelie
Fearne - do you think this would look like we have named it after fearne cotton?!

Rosie - quite pretty. I prefer Rosalie, Rosalind or simply Rose though.
Amelie - nothing wrong with it but a bit overused.
Ivy - love this, my favourite of your girls names.
Fearne - I didn't think you named after Fearne Cotton but am not really a fan of it.

Toby - don't like, it just seems doggy to me (I'll await people telling me more dogs are named Oscar though)
Which brings me nicely on to Oscar, Im mentally equating it to Amelie. Nothing wrong with it but I'm a teacher and seeing lots of them these days!
Henry - nice, classic name. My favourite from the boys list.
Alfie - this I just don't like, either as Alfie or Alfred.

You can't really go wrong with any of those names imo. Are you looking for more suggestions, or just feedback on them?

I like Henry and Toby best from your boys.
I like Rosie but prefer it as a nn for Rose or Rosalind or Rosanna

Henry, Alfie and Oscar are all lovely names, but so overused. I think they'll date really badly. I love Tobias with Toby as a nn.

Amelie is also chronically overused. Rosie is overused as a middle name and also the second part of a hyphenated name (Amelia-Rose, Emily-Rose, Lucy-Rose, Connie-Rose from my DC's school alone). I don't like Ivy or Fearne, but at least they're not massively overused.

Thanks all, I'm not bothered about it being too populate would rather have something we love over something we don't because it's popular.

I like Toby from your list and Fern with that spelling which takes away a lot of the FC connection

Really like Fearne, lovely name.

Not fussed on any the boys names but all are nice names. Toby would be my my favourite.

Fearne is Fearne Cotton's spelling, so would seem like she was named after her. Fern is lovely though.

I would spell it Fern. But unfortunately reminds me of the monkey in "We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves"! I love Ivy. Rosie is a bit boring. Amelie lovely but popular. Do you like Elodie? Aurelie? Coralie?

Henry and Oscar - lovely but popular. Toby and Alfie are dogs' names.

Toby, Oscar, Ivy and Rosie are all lovely.

I like all the options except Fearne for some reason.

Oscar and Ivy are probably my favourites.

Love Fearne, but much prefer the Fern spelling. It is different, and that is a good thing.

Plus, spelling it Fern gets you away from Cotton.
