Am thinking waaaay ahead (good thing I'm not superstitious!) but what do you think of this? I think it's Welsh. Could be Mags for short?

Either Magwitch from GE or Magua from Last of the Mohicans: not brilliant associations either of them.

If you like Mags as the nickname, go with Margaret or Marguerite, or Margot maybe.

Sorry sounds made up and both me and dd have very unusual names

waxweasel · 15/09/2015 15:11

I'm Welsh and have never heard it.

It's also really, really, really ugly. Agree with PPs it makes me think of gnarled old witches.

It it a real name? Is it Welsh?

My first thought was Magwitch from Great Expectations. He's a great character and I do like him but......

It sounds witchy - not sure I like it.

Bloodonthedanceflower · 15/09/2015 13:40

It sounds like a dippy old lady character in a purple skirt from a crappy children's book or TV series.

It's vile.

Snossidge · 15/09/2015 13:38

I've never heard of it.

StevieJo · 15/09/2015 13:36

Honestly sounds like a mash up of magpie and gwen
