I like both. However I am concerned about people pronouncing Naomi NYE-ohmi when I prefer Neigh-omi. Any preferences?

Naomi is lovely! Leah is nice too btu I think Naomi is stronger.

Secondtimeround75 · 03/11/2015 21:51

Naomi

anothernumberone · 03/11/2015 21:47

Love both. Love all pronunciations. I am not very helpful.

reuset · 03/11/2015 21:40

Yep, Leah bit late 90s/early 00s. In itself is not a bad name, but it's the similar sounding 'leah' names and variations on the spelling that spoil it for me.

So Naomi without question

Strokethefurrywall · 03/11/2015 21:31

Love both but Leah wins for me.

msgrinch · 03/11/2015 21:12

Leah definitely. Never met a pleasant Naomi, I've met 6/7 and they've all been nasty. So to me it's an awful name.

Yika · 03/11/2015 21:06

Both lovely but Naomi is lovelier.

ShamelessBreadAddict · 03/11/2015 21:02

Naomi is lovely. I would never say nye-omi but I don't mind it.

ashesandfire · 03/11/2015 19:38

I love both these names. Naomi just pips it for me and I would pronounce i nay-oh-mee

dotdotdotmustdash · 03/11/2015 00:48

I have a Leah - so it's a vote for Leah from me!

Naomi has always sounded a bit exotic and rarely suits the girls who are named it, in my opinion.

Leah x

mrsschu · 15/09/2015 08:06

I'm aware that Leah is a Hebrew name. Jacob in the old testament was tricked into marrying Leah rather than her sister Rachel (who he also later married). That doesn't mean it can't be a 90s name however. The name Isla is Scottish but I'd imagine in 20 years time it'll sound very 2015-ish to an awful lot of people who live in England Grin.

Saltedcaramel4 · 14/09/2015 20:58

When I was teaching I taught quite a few born in the late 80's 90's. Don't know any young or old ones

ShiningWhite · 14/09/2015 20:54

I know two Leahs pronounced Lay-ah and one pn Lee-ah, so that could potentially be confusing too! Nay-oh-mee is the only pronunciation I've heard but I would pronounce it as the parents did.

PurpleSkyatthewateringhole · 14/09/2015 20:37

Naomi. But although I like the name Leah, I've never really known a nice one so I am biased.

AssembleTheMinions · 14/09/2015 20:34

I don't think Leah is 90's at all. Its a Hebrew name and I know several, ranging from a lovely 82 year old all the way down to a 3 year old.

Saltedcaramel4 · 14/09/2015 20:30

Leah is very 1990's I agree.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 14/09/2015 20:26

Oh hard choice as they're both lovely. Think I'd go for Naomi,

mrsschu · 14/09/2015 09:49

Naomi (either pronounciation) definitely! Leah is a bit 90's IMO. Or maybe that's just because most of the Leah's I know we're at secondary school with me in the 90's.

Boysclothes · 14/09/2015 08:13

Thanks guys sounds like I can't go too wrong with either!

Both really lovely names, I would probably choose Leah over Naomi. Either are a nice middle name for the other.

CakeRattleandRoll · 14/09/2015 06:10

Another vote for Naomi.

Saltedcaramel4 · 13/09/2015 23:14

Naomi easily.

Devora · 13/09/2015 23:11

I really like both. I think I prefer Leah but it's a close-run thing.
