Honest opinions please,
Not for me but ndn DD is considering it, she's 36weeks
She said she is in two minds and asked my opinion, I was a bit surprised as it seems an old name,
Any thoughts?

I think it's a lovely name and miles better than some of the 'modern' ones - ability to get away with it might depend on context, eg in Scotland, Ireland or maybe even north of England it might work better than in the south.

Ahhh, my FIL is called Keith. And he is the best husband/grandad/father/fil ever!
It is therefore a great name.

I really like it, so much better than some of the pretentious names that get thrown around on here.

A Keith would probably be unique in all the people his age he'll meet!

I think it is a bit bland, but it is a real name, he's likely to be the only one in his class, and there are no real negative connotations associated with it (so long as ther surname isn't Lee, Leigh or similar).

If you are anywhere in South London your child will be called Keef.

Keith is fine. Its not particularly working class and it's not pretentious. It doesn't have any connotations (no-one who is anyone remembers Keith Chegwin). I think Keith is a name which is unspoilt, and a baby Keith could build his own image of Keith-ness.
Mrs Twee votes in favour of Keith.

Keith is a bit out of time I think, but there's nothing wrong with it. Not sure why it's been suggested to be working class (or indeed why Archie or Alfie or other names of that type should be either, they were all part of a wave of 'old man' names, popular in middle class families too).

Cheggers plays pop! is what I hear in my head when the name Keith is said.

Its a very working class name, as is Alfie, Archie, etc and those other fashionable names from the early 2000s. Though I don't think Keith is going to be as fashionable due to Mister Chegwin (who I do love)

My dad's a Keith too. I can't imagine a baby Keith.

That said, I know a 24 year old Keith who is lovely.

I think it's ok actually. I have a cousin called Keith, he's 30. I wouldn't use it myself but it's far better than lots of names knocking around at the moment! DD has a 4 year old friend called Ian. At first I thought it was really strange for a kid to be called that but it suits him really well! I'd put Keith in the same category.

I don't mind it either. It's a refreshing alternative to all the try-hard names on here - if people are desperate to avoid the most popular names they should go for Keith and the like instead of making them up.
