My dad was always known as Tom and my DGS is Ned . Both sit well with me.
Just realised that I like single syllable male names. John,Ben, Paul, James,Will, Ned, Tom, Dave, Jim. ??

Know many Toms who were just Tom (as in not Thomas). All adorable. All. If my BF hadn't nipped me to the post by two weeks and named her son Tom I would've been tempted and even then she was all "Do it! The best guys are all called Tom!" Besides ours DHs obviously Hmm

We have a Tom who is just Tom, that's his first name (its been a name on its own since the 18th century, people should really be used to it). And we don't know any others, there's never been one in his class at school (he just turned 9).So I'm partial to it.

But I like Ned. It makes me think of horses for some reason, but maybe that's just because its late.

Not liking Finley.Isn't that one of the kids of Jude Law and Sadie whats-her-name? Not a fan of names that celebs use on their children.

If you're not going for 'full BC names', Finley - though I'd spell it Finlay.

Is Ned faddy? I don't know of any. Is it popular in some areas?
Didn't know Finley was regarded as not classy either.
Tom is classic and lovely... But too popular? Would he be Tom Surname at school?

Finley is the least classy, Ned is quite faddy, so Tom is the best as its a lovely classic!

I dont like short names as the entirety so.

Tom (not keen on thomas)

Finley (love Finn)

Ned (I love it, but never as a name in its own right)

In Scotland Ned stands for Non-Educated-Delinquent. I know it doesn't matter when you're not in Scotland but thought I'd mention it.... I love Finley as a name. Very lovely.
