What do you honestly think of this girl's name?

Helloo mummies and mummies to be..

My baby girl is due in November and I wanted your honest opinions on this? My partner and I both love the name Ava and have agreed on this, however I do appreciate it's popularity (although I don't know any Ava's hence the reason we are going for this)

So I want a middle name/names that make it more unique, to go with the surname Brook.

I am thinking Ava Naomi Winter Brook as her full name.. what's your opinion on this?

Open to suggestions but please no Grace/Rose/May/Elizabeth names as I want to keep it unique and this these are also commonly used..

Also trying to stay away from anything too unusual/difficult to spell.

Many thanks !! :-) xxx

Winter has grown on me since the start of the thread. There is also the option of shortening it to Winnie if your DD decides she'd like a less unusual name.

TheoriginalLEM · 12/09/2015 19:16

I love it, and the Winter bit for me makes the whole name flow more - don't be put off, i think its a lovely name, neither poncy or common.

thehypocritesoaf · 12/09/2015 19:15

I like Naomi Brook - strong and pretty
Or marianne brook.

Everything sounds good with brook- a good starting point!

kirstywade82 · 12/09/2015 19:11

If you like those names, go with it. I told no one what I was going to call my son, I knew there would be people who didn't like it and didn't care for anyone else's opinion!

ShiningWhite · 12/09/2015 18:50

Keep Winter in there, I like it.

JakeyBurd · 12/09/2015 13:53

I love Winter! I'd swap its position in the name with Ava and have it as the first name. Although your choices as lovely.

BasinHaircut · 12/09/2015 10:20

I wouldn't try to hard to be unique and stick to names you love. You'll come up with something you think is a one off and 2 weeks before your due date your mum's next door neighbours daughter will give birth to a little girl and use one of your unique names.

As pp says bear in mind that middle names are rarely used it even known. How many of your friends middle names do you know? Let alone colleagues/acquaintances etc.

Ava is fine, Naomi is fine, Winter is fine. Not every one will like them and say that popularity is a negative thing. But do you think this affected any of the Sarah's, Jane's or Tracey's of the 80's? It didn't.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 12/09/2015 10:13

I love winter! But I read a beautiful book with a fab main character named Winter so it seems like a great name to me.
I would lose Ava; it's too popular and quite boring now. It's a pretty name but will date.
Naomi Winter Brook or even Winter Naomi Brook.

Missdee2014 · 12/09/2015 10:11

Love the full name.

SmugairleRoin · 12/09/2015 10:10

Ava is popular yes but if that doesn't bother you, doesn't matter!
As a teacher I'm finding though that the staggering amount of Eva, Ava, Evie, Ada (two in the school) starts to make them all blend together and the names become insipid. Same with Lily, Milly, Molly, Sophie etc.

I prefer Naomi as the first name, and think Winter is awful. But it's just a middle name so doesn't matter too much - you don't use them too often.

mathanxiety · 12/09/2015 04:03

I also love the full name - Ava Naomi Winter. Really nice.

Ava is gorgeous. Sometimes there is a good reason a name becomes popular.

DramaAlpaca · 12/09/2015 00:47

I think the full name you suggest is lovely, OP.

FoxesSitOnBoxes · 11/09/2015 21:29

Ava is lovely but not unique (I don't think you need to be unique though)
I think Brook and Winter are a bit... American teen TV characterish but we're just internet people and don't matter so just go for it!

jefferson1 · 11/09/2015 21:23

Naomi is a lovely name, and Naomi Brook sounds gorgeous.

I did like Ava, but there's so many of them now that it's sounding boring.

MusicMum18 · 11/09/2015 19:56

I love the name Ava too, it's beautiful. I teach in a school of 200 and just taught an Ava in year 6, she was the only Ava in the school.

Shiningdew · 11/09/2015 19:54

It's autumn going into winter. My birthday is at the end of November and I class myself as winter born. I was due in December though.

SoupDragon · 11/09/2015 19:52

due to the fact she will be born in Winter time

November is in Autumn.

AnonymousBird · 11/09/2015 19:50

Ava is nice but not unique at all, and easily confused with Eva so if you want an easy to spell name, it is not one of those! Our school has bundles of Ellas near the top end, bundles of Ava/Evas near the bottom end.

Now Naomi, that is absolutely lovely and goes very well with your surname.

MaudeTheMopLady · 11/09/2015 19:49

I think both Ava and Winter are gorgeous...

Belazu84 · 11/09/2015 19:44

Gorgeous OP. I love the Naomi Winter bit best of all.

Falconwolf101 · 11/09/2015 19:36

I love it all aside the Naomi. Super name Smile

Pandora97 · 11/09/2015 19:26

I personally wouldn't include Winter as I think Ava Naomi is lovely on its own.

Sunshineandsilverbirch · 11/09/2015 18:22

Ava Brook is a perfectly pretty name but not particularly unique or unusual (if that's what you are going for)

A quick look at Facebook brings up quite a few Ava Brooks and also a reasonable handful of Naomi Brooks and even Winter Brooks.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/09/2015 18:20

I'd lose the Ava.

Naomi Winter is v sweet.

peachypips · 11/09/2015 18:17

Winter or autumn as a first name... Really nice. I like week day names too, particularly Tuesday or Sunday. But as aforementioned, very marmite.
