My husband likes the name 'Stellan' for our baby boy. I like it but was surprised he did! What do you guys think? It's Stellan or Alex - very undecided. Hmm

To me it's Stella with all of its connotations.

But misspelt.

Wolpertinger · 19/09/2015 21:03

I like it but I would assume that either a) you were Scandinavian or b) you had a crush on Mr Skarsgard Smile

SanityClause · 19/09/2015 21:01

I have to admit, I've never heard this name, before, but it has a nice strong sound. If you and DH like it, go for it.

Junosmum · 19/09/2015 20:56

I immediately though Skarsgard. Can't be bad people to be named after ;)

Any Scandinavian heritage?

Smartiepants79 · 19/09/2015 18:57

MUCH prefer Alex. And would save him a lifetime of people going ?Stellan? How do you spell that?
Can you tell I'm a traditionalist when it comes to names?

MamaLazarou · 19/09/2015 18:51

It's ok.

SuckingEggs · 19/09/2015 16:24

He'll be called Stella at school...

IlonaRN · 19/09/2015 16:21

I quite like it, but I am Scandinavian :)

aoife24 · 09/09/2015 16:52

I like it and don't think you need to be Scandinavian to use it.

scatterthenuns · 08/09/2015 22:24

I like it! Are you scandinavian?

RiverTam · 08/09/2015 22:02

Stellan Skarsgard, woof! Alexander Skarsgard, double woof!

It's a lovely name (and has the benefit of actually being a name).

Marcipex · 08/09/2015 21:38

Awful, it's too near Stella.

BertrandRussell · 08/09/2015 09:48

Depends what his last name would be.

YouBastardSockBalls · 08/09/2015 09:43

Awful.

Makes me think of Stella.

StormCoat · 08/09/2015 09:40

I am, thanks! I saw his name on a film review once (maybe Boys Don't Cry.)and when I actually went to see it, was vaguely puzzled when the bloke from Breaking the Waves failed to appear... Grin

Cerseirys · 08/09/2015 09:24

No, it's just Skarsgård - you're thinking of the actor Peter Sarsgaard!

StormCoat · 08/09/2015 09:06

Skarsgaard. Or is it Skaarsgard?

I like it, but I think the total effect might depend a lot on the surname.

LoveAGoodRummage · 08/09/2015 09:06

I actually rather like it! Depends on how it sounds with your last name though.

duckbilled · 08/09/2015 09:06

I like it, but also a skarsgard fan lol

CarriesBucketOfBlood · 08/09/2015 09:02

Is it Greek? It goes with Stavros in my head. Stavros and his brother Stellan.

Belazu84 · 08/09/2015 08:53

I like it!

Sophronia · 07/09/2015 23:33

It makes me think of Stollen Grin

wickedlazy · 07/09/2015 23:10

I think once I got used to it, I would like it though.

wickedlazy · 07/09/2015 23:09

Stellan just makes me think of Stalin. Like my brain is trying to auto correct.

msgrinch · 07/09/2015 23:07

Sound like my ex trying to pronounce what he'd been drinking after a massive weekend session.
