Isaac, Jude or Sebastian

we were pretty set on Jude for our soon to be born baby but as the due date approaches we're less sure.

Which do you prefer out of Jude, Isaac or Sebastian?

I have a Sebastian who usually goes by Seb. I love both versions of his name. And I have had lovely comments on his name. He was a 2013 baby and I don't know of any others in rl. We are in s yorks though. And very working class. Maybe it's more popular in affluent areas.

I like your other choices too.

I adore the name Jude. Lovely and simple.

Isaac sounds overly religious and Sebastian is a bit pompous and has also had a huge spike in popularity recently, a bit too 2015.

Sorry, just realised I've come on a bit too strong with the comments re Jude, don't want to insult you! It's one of those names MN loves but I'm not sure how popular it is in RL. And I just don't like it.

Isaac followed by Sebastian. I detest the name Jude, it's incredibly ugly IMO.

today id go Sebastian. Tomorrow probably Isaac lok

I have an Isaac who never has his name shortened either. He's nearly 7 and I think we were a bit ahead of the current 'crop' as he's the only one in his school but I do hear the name more with toddlers now.

I loved Sebastian too but it didn't work with our surname Confused

I don't actually know any Judes or Sebastians in RL but I honestly know about 6 Isaacs. We know the popularity of names is partly regional tho so it may depend on where u r. I am in NW if that helps.

I have a Sebastian and he is never been known as Seb.
Probably will be when he's older, but his mother will always use his full name ;)
Jude was what DD would have been, but she was a she :)
I don't think you could go wrong. They're all lovely names

Not sure how popular Jude is really. Certainly none in our school, nor the Juniors (3-4 classes per year) except mine. Met one in the park the other day, but he was 5 years older.

Jude is my favourite, it's my DS's name, so obviously I'm biased.

Isaac is a very close second, and if we ever have a second son, I'm almost certain he'd be Isaac.

I do like Sebastian, although it's not something I'd use.

I don't think you can go wrong whatever you choose.

Not jude, please, honestly i am now sick of hearing it! Everyone seems to be shouting it at their kids.
Sebastian is the best

Jude then Sebastian n then, at a push, Isaac. Isaac is very common now, seems every second boy is named it so I would really avoid that if I were u.

I almost never say this on a MN baby name thread but I love all three names!

My order of preference/niceness would be:

Isaac (name I wanted but DH vetoed)
Jude
Sebastian (because I love, love, love Seb but am not sure I'd want to say the whole name over and over again day in day out).

Sebastian, is my favourite, then Isaac, then Jude.

I do hear of the odd Sebastian, but I wouldn't exactly say that it's really popular. Same for Isaac.

One of my DC is Isaac (surname is not Cox though!] and it is never shortened to Zac by anyone. Also, he's the only Isaac in his school of 240 pupils, even though generally it's quite popular these days.
There are tons of Sebastians here though

I wonder if our DDs have the same name actually.

IME, the shortening thing happens more and more the older they get. DD is 8 now so it's out of my control, as it should be. She introduces her self by her full name but she gets (and likes) all the standard shortenings from her friends and their parents. I've not grown to like them but it's her name, she may well choose to go by one of the shortenings at some point.

Ds name is one which has a very popular nickname.Think Daniel and Dan, sort of thing. We have always used his full name because we love it and so does he. If people abbreviate it and say Hi Dan, he says, It's Daniel. You don't have to accept nns if you don't want them

My DD has a name that can be shortened to something i HATE the sound of but we'be been quite lucky so far. The problem with isaac is it will almost undoubtedly be shortened to zac and im not into it. My mum gave me a name she loved but hated one of the shortened versions of it, and lo and behold, i go by the shortened version she hates, because it suits me.

Oh! Seymour. That's very nice actually. I usually hate surname type names but that's grand. Like Herbert and Seth but better.
