How would you pronounce 'Neva'

I wouldn't use 'Niamh'. But wondering if Neva just looks like a 'misunderstanding' of Niamh?? Neva is apparent Spanish, meaning 'white snow', which might be a nice option for my winter baby Smile

Nee va

I would personally go for Neve as the pronunciation is a bit more obvious.

kittylh · 10/08/2015 10:54

I would say Nee-va. Made me think of Eva.

Eminybob · 10/08/2015 10:51

Like a bad imitation of a new Jersey Mafia guy sayin' never.

There is a youtube of the correct Spanish pronounciation

Thurlow · 10/08/2015 09:43

Nee-vah. I wouldn't think that it had anything to do with Niamh though.

Littlefish · 10/08/2015 09:42

A bit like "never", but with less of an "er"

Fishwives · 10/08/2015 09:41

I would assume it was from a parent who liked Niamh but decided to mess about and Anglicise it. I wouldn't know whether it was likely to be pronounced as 'Neeva' or 'Nayva'.

Wishful80smontage · 10/08/2015 09:39

I thought it would have been Nevah

PenelopePitstops · 10/08/2015 09:39

Like never but with an ah, nev ah.
