Griffin, Roman or Milo?

DS is due in two weeks and I keep changing my mind about names, hormones are definitely not helping.
Griffin - DHs favourite, I'm not sure if it sounds a bit harsh? But love how unique it is.
Milo I adore but is it too cliche?

Absolutely LOVE Milo!

teaparties · 10/08/2015 16:38

Thanks everyone. We have vetoed Roman so he will be either Griffin or Milo, have a feeling we may end up testing them out as suggested once he is born... Hopefully one or the other will 'suit' more.

Oooh thanks CrystalMcPistol, glad there's some rationale behind my association

SmugairleRoin · 09/08/2015 21:56

Oh no, not Roman. Many people will just associate it with Roman Polanski. And tbh it sounds a bit...off...as a name, even separated from him. I wouldn't call a child Greek or Egyptian.

Milo isn't particularly great either but the one I like best out of your names. It does remind me of that annoying tweenies character but is that show even on tv any more?

Griffin...a bird, a gargoyle or Peter Griffin. Not to my tastes. But still better than Roman!

Allalonenow · 09/08/2015 19:39

I like Roman best, with Milo second.

Griffin sounds more like brand name for climbing gear or strong elastic to me.

ample · 09/08/2015 19:34

I had all three of these names as mn's for a boy about 10 years ago. It was my very first list Grin but had a DD so didn't get around to use.
Can't help you choose I'm afraid as they are all lovely imo.
However having said that, I do love Griffin and don't think it's at all harsh.

CrystalMcPistol · 09/08/2015 19:21

If only they'd encase him in stone and stick him on top of a building!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 09/08/2015 19:18

And Nick Griffin looks like a gargoyle.

woodleydoodle · 09/08/2015 19:16

All awful, sorry

CrystalMcPistol · 09/08/2015 18:56

Probably because gargoyles, dragons and griffins featured a lot in Gothic architecture sweetpea

Griffin, Roman or Milo?
toddlersareeasier · 09/08/2015 18:56

They're awful.

Milo is the best one.

CrystalMcPistol · 09/08/2015 18:53

Love Griffin/Griff!

CakeRattleandRoll · 09/08/2015 17:09

My favourite is Griffin, but much prefer Griffith. Griff is great nn.

sweetpeame · 09/08/2015 17:01

Griffin is awful, it sounds like the name of a gargoyle IMO. Not sure why but that's what springs to mind. Roman isn't my taste but I know a 2 year old one and it suits him. Milo is ok but a bit faddy/of the moment, they're popping up all over the place at the moment! There are 2 in DDs nursery and only one child (her!) with her top 10 name!!

WitchofScots · 09/08/2015 08:43

Milo is a Tweenie so no. Roman is just odd IMO, I know two and one is a bully and the other is a weedy little thing. Griff(in) is lovely.

peacefuleasyfeeling · 09/08/2015 08:38

Milo was on my list but decided not to as there are so many in our area.
Griffin is lovely.

Hellionandfriends · 09/08/2015 08:02

Griff is not unheard of either

swimmerforlife · 09/08/2015 07:50

Not keen on any of your choices but Griffin is okay.

HeyDuggee · 09/08/2015 07:32

Milo sounds like a nickname. What about Miles?

SanityClause · 09/08/2015 07:32

I like Milo, but as I'm Australian, to me it's a malty chocolaty drink.

Still, no different to using Flora (which is lovely) for a girl.

I don't really like your other two choices that much.

YeOldeTrout · 09/08/2015 07:31

Roman is only one I can stand. They all scream dog to me.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 09/08/2015 07:31

Griffin reminds me of Nick Griffin. I'd suggest one of the other two.

StrawberryMojito · 09/08/2015 07:29

Milo

AltoPalo · 09/08/2015 07:28

Love Griffin.
Milo OK but reminds me of Tweenies and it's a bit of a hipster name.
Roman is not a name I like at all.

Koalafications · 09/08/2015 07:24

Not keen on Roman.

Griffin doesn't sound like a name.

Milo is lovely.
