Opinions on the girls name I've chosen Isla Rae

I had a friend name Rae-Anne and she was always complilmented on it.

Ramona is much nicer than Rae. Isla is also super popular and will date hugely. Poppy Ramona or Piper Ramona are both nice.

Piper makes me think of the Piper Alpha disaster....

Also think it's a bit tastiqual especially with Rae.

But you not double barrelling it which is great news.

Isla is nice but very popular at the moment.

Rae always makes me think of trailer parks though, sorry.

Wouldn't be double barrelled not keen on double barrelled names I also like Piper but don't know what people think of that?.

If you're not using the 2 as joint first names - eg Isla-Rae which does sound like IRA, then she'll just be known as Isla which is a lovely name. I'm in Scotland - it's not popular/common round here (although there are 3 Rocco's locally, each family no doubt thinking they would be unique - ha!)

I like the name Isla but agree with others who have said Isla Rae sounds like IRA.

Sophie Rae was on our shortlist at one point.

I think Isla is very pretty. I wouldn't choose it because it's popular now, but that's just me - if you don't know any Islas then why not? I'm not keen on Rae - I understand your reasons though. Depends how you use it, if it's just merely a middle name then I guess it's ok but if you are planning on using it together as a double barrel first name 'Isla Rae' then I would say it reminds me of names like Ellie-Mae, Jamie-Lynn etc (have you seen TED??)

I think Rae sounds fine with most names to be honest. It's similar to Jane or May.

I think Imogen Rae goes nicely, and you don't know she'd be called Immie - if you don't use it as a nickname I think it would be quite unlikely others would.

I think Isla is a nice name. It's popularity needn't bother you, it's popular because it's nice!
We chose quite a rare name for DS and there's still another one in his year group.
But I do like Imogen too! But I'm biased as that is DD name.

I'm not keen on Isla Hall sorry to say, it seems bland
Also, for some reason when I read it quickly to myself it sounds like 'i'll call'
Maybe that's just me thinking that though!

How about Emilia Rae, Lucy Rae, Lexie Rae, Sophie Rae, Bethany Rae, Rebecca Rae,.... there's loads of other first names that I think would sound stronger with the name Hall to be honest

I don't really like the name 'Rae' for a girl or a boy in fact but I can see why you want to use it. The trouble is a lot of people seem to have used it as a sort of 'filler' name - it goes with everything pretty much.

Like Rose or Mae as a middle name for just about everything, just because, it's there.

We know of an Edie Rae whom my children refer to affectionately as 'Dvd Blu Ray'

Loads of Islas here (SE)

Just don't go with Blue as a first name.

Are you going to be using the Rae as part of her first name? So will she be Isla-Rae? I think that sounds like IRA but I think if it's just a middle name Isla Rae Hall doesn't sound like IRA because you place the emphasis on the words slightly differently.
I've got a 2 year old and don't know any Islas. If you love it then use it. You'll always get negative opinions.

Ramona is the feminine version of Raymond, although Isla Ramona is a bit of a mouthful!

I don't know any Islas OP but I have heard it has become a popular name. How long have you got, is it worth waiting until the official lists come out? They also give regional info so you can check your area for popularity.

Fwiw I think Isla Rae is lovely, I see what pp mean about the IRA but personally I don't think it's a link people would make on a daily basis.

the Rae suggests traveller/gypsy connections. In a romantic sort of way. (my grandmother was a gypsy)
