Somebody give us a name that we might even consider???

I have read 2 baby name books cover to cover and check this board almost daily.. NOTHING! Angry

I have been in love with ONE girl's name for years & years - absolutely impossible with my now married surname. Angry Angry

I see a name, I kind of like it, I say it out loud, I hate it.
I see a name, I kind of like it. I say it to Dh, he wrinkles his nose or looks at me in shock.
I see a name, I kind of like it, I think it's quite vintage/retro - it's so popular, if I said it at the school gates, i'd have 50 kids at my feet.

DH says a name, I walk away in disbelief... Confused Hmm

In my head, I think I want a 2 syllable name but wouldn't be opposed to 3 or a potentially adjoining middle name. Our surname is only one syllable.

I don't know if we are having a girl or a boy and will not be finding out... HELP!

I was also going to suggest Irene as it's very close to Iris.
Can be pronounced I-ree-nee as well as I-reen. Both sound good with Ross.
Renée is a glamorous variation: Renée Ross has a ring to it.

I loved the name iris toobut dh hated it. We called her nell if that's you're taste too?

If your DH likes Blake and you like Woody (but can't have it because of Toy Story association) you might like other American sounding boy names:

Not Matilda fuckup but Tilly has been swimming around my head for a while... Am i destined to have a T name?? Thea, Thalia, Tilly....?

I was in school with all of the people on the mainstream suggestions so not my thing but thank you.

Connie is sweet.

Leo is also great but have used it for a cat previously.

I've definitely had a few to consider, especially girls names.... perhaps we could have a DH names the boy, I name the girl rule?? ill never stick to it

purplesky - you've actually named our dog which I wish we had bloody kept now! Haha.

Woody is sweet but am from the Toy Story era! Archer is also something I would like too drink also but wouldn't want people to nn Archie - lots of them where I am.

Sylvie has caught my eye a few times, I think I need to jot it down..

Now I like LILAH! That's just lovely! And I haven't heard or seen that before! Definitely going on the list!! Not sure what DH will think but I can work on him . He likes Lydia so not too different to that?

Sorry &fuckup* - not feeling wither of those. I like Sofia but just not for mine?

thalia and thea sound good to me - and they're pretty unusual so they tick that box? Constance/Connie? Cecelia/Cece?

DP is a Ross so we had this problem. Best advice we had was, think of Scottish names to go with a Scottish surname. We liked Alexandra and Isabella for a girl, with a family name for a middle name. And for a boy James Charles David and Stewart. We didn't know what we were having, but DD announced herself in such a way that it became obvious what her name should be!
Also DP's Nan told me that I should remember that a girl may change her name so carefully chosen non clashing names will go out the window! ( my initials will be RAR when get married - not sure whether to laugh or cry!)

I like Tabatha - DH veto'd.
I also like Ivy - DH wrinkled his nose.
The others not so much my fancy - although Xanthe is new to me :)

Thanks Stevie - I like it the more I say it. I don't think it needs a middle name either.

How about Thalia?

Boys names I like are

Ethan - DH says no, kind of similar to his name
Theo - DH umms and ahhs. Quite like Teddy too - NOT my usual style!
Blake - well not me but DH really likes.
