Somebody give us a name that we might even consider???

I have read 2 baby name books cover to cover and check this board almost daily.. NOTHING! Angry

I have been in love with ONE girl's name for years & years - absolutely impossible with my now married surname. Angry Angry

I see a name, I kind of like it, I say it out loud, I hate it.
I see a name, I kind of like it. I say it to Dh, he wrinkles his nose or looks at me in shock.
I see a name, I kind of like it, I think it's quite vintage/retro - it's so popular, if I said it at the school gates, i'd have 50 kids at my feet.

DH says a name, I walk away in disbelief... Confused Hmm

In my head, I think I want a 2 syllable name but wouldn't be opposed to 3 or a potentially adjoining middle name. Our surname is only one syllable.

I don't know if we are having a girl or a boy and will not be finding out... HELP!

Oh Gosh, I forgot to put Violet in girls names too! DH finally conceded on that one last night! 1-0 to me Wink

I hadn't even considered the D/G/CR thing Blush - duly noted! Although I think I may agree with cross being symbol related for me? Like the Xfactor big cross? Maybe that's not great connotation either though!

I think we have a short list from your suggestions. I think talking them through helped. DH and I have agreed that I will pick girls name, he will pick boys name (he actually thinks this will happen if we have a boy!! hahaHA)

So girls are (in order of preference) - Thea, Thalia, Lilah, Sylvie, Lorena, Elodie (DH has veto'd Thalia and keeps shouting it out around the house like Taarrrrliaaaahhhh!! - plum in mouth super posh - unlikely to EVER sound like that considering we are North Walian's!!!)

And boys - not in order of preference Christiano DH's first choice, not happening ever ever EVER Teddy, Blake, Hunter, Isaac and Carter. I think I would approve Teddy And Isaac.

Thank you for all your suggestions, there were some others in there I like - absolutely LOVE Ivy but cant have it for other reasons. Aurelia and India so pretty but MIL wrinkles her nose at Indy as another favour of mine and tells me how naughty and snotty the one in her class is... she wants to hope ours isn't naughty and snotty

Aurelia, India, Lorena, talya. Barnaby, Hugo, Dexter, nathanael. Ross is a great surname, everything sounds great with it.

I can see why one might want to avoid D. Ross and G. Ross, but surely C. Ross isn't embarrassing.

I've met many people with the surname Cross, and for me it conjures up a shape rather than an emotion!

I think a longer first name would sound quite stately, like Elizabeth or Caroline. I also LOVE Vivian.

Elizabeth Ross - boardroom material AND can do Lizzy or Beth(y) for when she's little
Caroline Ross - same with Caro
Vivian Ross - Vivi for short.

Can you tell I'm due with a DS in 5weeks?

My ex work colleague is a Ross by surname. His first name is David. His work (therefore not by choice) email address is dross@xxxxxxx. Just something to bear in mind. Stay away perhaps from D, C, G etc etc. He hates his email address with a passion and is a bit of a laughing stock.

My daughters first name doesn't really go well with our surname. But it never really comes up, how many times a day do you say your full name out loud? And we love her first name.

I have definitely heard of worse / more difficult names than Ross (including mine!).

I guess I would avoid anything ending in 's'. Also anything starting with 'd' or 'g' or 'c'...
