star for a girl?

I'm only 9 weeks pregnant with my 5th child but keep getting signs for the name star if it's a girl. what does anyone think??

OP, Its a mistake to ask for opinions on a name you love on here. It gets torn apart. Ive never asked about my kids names, but ive read negative comments. If you like the name, use it. Its lovely

I like star, it's cute... but she might be annoyed by it if she doesn't have a Sunday name to use when older. Although Dr. Star Johnston/Flanagan/Peters all sound pretty cool to me!

For what it's worth I like most of the alternative suggestions (Nova, Astrid, Starlet), but I hate Stella.

Two things:

There was a Star at my nursery and she was really mean. I remember it 27odd years on so it must have been bad. Don't know if it was a middle name or first name. She might have a mortgage and responsibilities now but I don't know.
If you do go ahead with Star then whatever you do don't tell your DD about the rat thing. That's properly weird!

I knew a girl called Scarlett who who was known as star (probably better than Scar!)

I love it really pretty and a bit hippyish in a good way x

My niece is called star....I wasn't crazy about it at first but I love it now. It suits her so much!!

You're overthinking it a bit I think OP, the doorbell thing is probably a glitch or kids playing chap door run, my 4 year old says random stuff all the time and the rats thing is just a bit mental.

Star is OK as a name but I like the previous suggestions of Stella, Seren or Astrid if you want a star themed name and they would all suit an adult much better than Star.

2 days later no joke we saw a rat out the back, rats spelt backwards is star.

I think it would be a lovely middle name or nickname, but I wouldn't use it as a first name. I love the suggestions of Stella, Aurora or Estelle though.

know this is going to sound weird but here goes. just after I found I was pregnant my doorbell went off for no reason at night playing tune twinkle twinkle little star, this is not it's normal tune it's set too and no one was there. 2 days later no joke we saw a rat out the back, rats spelt backwards is star. it went away and never came back. never had rats before ever or since. then my 4 year old said at the shops ' I can see a beautiful star ' whilst looking at nothing next to him. loads of other stars seen but freaky don't you think? or am I insane lol

OP, call your child Tara, Estelle/Estella or Aster and nickname her Star (I don't like Seren).

For the people saying 'Nikita' is a Russian boys' name, it is also an (unrelated) Indian girls' name.

I think it's one of those pseudo hippy names, and now a bit obvious and old hat. I'd more imagine it used by the performing arts/dance parents (a case of wishful thinking?).

I quite like it. Theres a girl in my ds class called Star. Its cute, bit hippyish, unusual, but not way out there.

Prefer Star to Nikita personally (and Stella is bloody awful)

It's a very Brighton name. I don't hate it but I do struggle to imagine a 40 year old Star with kids, husband, mortgage and "ordinary" responsible job. I do like Seren but wouldn't choose it myself because it doesn't reflect my background.

Estelle/Estella are beautiful and much nicer than Star. Star is the kind of name I imagine someone called Louise gives themselves when they throw it all in to become a new age traveller (if new age travellers still exist that is!).

What do you mean by 'getting signs'?

Many of the names meaning 'star' are nice, as are the various constellation suggestions (isn't there a star called Maia in the Pleiades?) but 'Star' to me is the kind of thing a ten-year-old calls her imaginary pony.

Nikita for me is either N. Khrushchev or that whiny Elton John song about how the stony, blonde border guard 'will never KNOW/ Anything about my HOME'. Like she cares.
