But what do people think of the name Hartley? For a boy.

It's not completely random, it has a meaning which relates to a family member but I'd rather not say incase we do go for it and then it outs me. Brother name is Henry.

I've never heard of JR hartley or LP hartley, sorry! But after googling I don't think they are anyone I need to worry about.

Thanks maximama I agree they are similar...I wasn't sure if this was a nice thing in that they sound nice together or a bad thing! Thanks for your opinion! :-)

Thanks littlegreyhat - regarding the style I see both as old English names, although hartley is more a surname I know. Thanks for your opinion :-)

I think it would be ok as a mn if you wanted it for sentimental reasons but as a first name I'm not keen and don't think it goes with Henry it clashes and is a completely different style.
