Opinions on the name Lola Grace

Dirty that was rude and unnecessary. Nemo has an opinion on a name, I'm sure you have opinions on many other names. It's your DD's name and presumably you love it so it doesn't matter. Peace all, personal attacks really aren't necessary.

It a name I've heard a lot - dunno if that bothers you. It's fine but a bit cutesy/little girly for my personal taste.

I like Grace. I also like Sylvie/a. Not sure about lo-lo-lo-lo-lolah.

I'm not at all fussed on Grace though.

The thing is lemon, it may be a baby name thread, but the baby will be an adult one day.

I think people can lose sight of the fact that really they're naming a future adult not just a baby (not aimed at you op)

We're choosing names at the moment and I would much rather people were honest. Better to find out at this stage, rather than later, if there are strange connotations. It's a good indicator of what people are likely to say in the wider world. Nobody is saying the OP shouldn't use Lola Grace if she wants to, just answering an honest question.

But presumably people specifically post on here to gauge what connotations names have for people, so I don't think there's any point in getting arsy with posters about it, even if you dislike or disagree with those associations. Enough people have said the name has stripper/showgirl connotations for them for it not to be one person's private oddity.

I'm not particularly proud of myself for thinking that there's something a bit showgirl-ish, en masse, about the name choices of someone who lives in our village, who has young daughters called Delilah, Scarlett and Ruby (and yes, I do think calling two children after different shades of red is a bit odd, too). Individually fine, but taken together they sound like the stage names on the roster at the Bada-bing! I have heard mutterings about another daughter being Topaz or Jezebel.

Lola also puts me in mind of Nabokov's Lolita.

Wow, people on here are so judgemental! I personally do not like short names, however if you like the name Lola then go for it Smile

Lola is a lovely name; I teach quite a few Lolas here in Spain where it is a diminutive of Dolores (which means "Pains"!)

Grace is also a nice name, but it is extremely popular so if you want originality you should perhaps reconsider.

I dislike Lola: it's trashy and tacky, in my opinion.

Grace is OK, bit 'meh'.

If you like Grace then maybe another "virtue" type name like Joy, Hope, Honour, Clemency, Verity or Faith

Maybe instead of Lola you could try something like Cora, Ava, Clara, Julia, Stella, Viola or Ada

Don't like Lola, sorry. It's not a very pretty sound to my mind, and also sounds like a diminutive rather than a proper name. It's more a little girl name than an adult woman name.

I like grace but think it's overrused as a middle name. That said my first choice for a girl middle name (rose) is also overrused but is a family name with very strong personal meaning.

it's a bit off to comment 'sounds like a stripper to me' on a baby name thread. But perhaps I'm being unnecessarily squeamish.
It's horribly sexist to say that.

These comments are crazy. The purpose of these type of threads is exactly to identify the types of prejudices people have about names - that can blight a person's life with a bad choice of name!!!

People are sexist. People are prejudiced. Women do work in the sex industry. Names do have certain associations and connotations that you may not like. Deal with it.

Immediately thought of Kate Moss's daughter Lila Grace on seeing the thread title. Could make people think you're a fan but have varied the name very slightly.
