What does it make you think when you hear it?

Tom Waits song.

Love it, it's in my top three.

marinacortina · 02/08/2015 12:16

Martha and the Muffins - there were actually two Marthas in the band!

AnotherGirlsParadise · 02/08/2015 11:52

Love it. Makes me think of Martha Wainwright, whose music I love.

Vatersay · 02/08/2015 11:51

what BitofFun said. Exactly that.

Cloggal · 02/08/2015 11:40

Love it

Sophronia · 02/08/2015 11:08

I like it a lot.

silverglitterpisser · 02/08/2015 10:31

Absolutely love this name! I wanted it for my DD 15 yrs ago but it was vetoed by EXH. I haven't heard of any others,I don't know a single Martha. Please use it!

Pigzoom · 02/08/2015 10:26

Love it, although everywhere

woody17 · 02/08/2015 09:44

I really like Martha

BoutrosBoutros · 02/08/2015 09:42

In the scullery maid camp here. Said with a flat northern accent Maaaaaatha.

thunderbird69 · 02/08/2015 09:40

Timid and impressionable - no idea why, but that is my immediate response

Hoodedmoron · 02/08/2015 09:38

Lovely name - is on our short list.

longbottom · 02/08/2015 09:32

My youngest is a Martha (5 months)
I'm obviously biased but love it and have never had a face pulled, just a "how cute, beautiful name"

hawkmcqueen · 02/08/2015 09:26

I just think it is very harsh sounding with the 'th'

Kikimoon · 02/08/2015 09:02

It's one of dh's favourites because of Martha Gellhorn. He thinks it's a very cool name. I think it's a plain name.

OttiliaVonBCup · 02/08/2015 08:54

Don't worry about the cost.

treaclesoda · 02/08/2015 08:53

I love it. I suggested it for dd and dh was aghast. But I still love it.

sweetpeame · 02/08/2015 08:50

Makes me think of a very old lady or else a little girl under 5. Most Martha's fall into one of those age brackets!

SavoyCabbage · 02/08/2015 04:34

Dowdy scullery maid type.

CordeliaFoxx · 02/08/2015 01:43

Thanks Mint.

There was also a Martha in Home and Away a couple years ago.

villainousbroodmare · 02/08/2015 01:39

Timid housemaid with an annoying sniffle and a turned eye. Hate it.

MintChocAddict · 02/08/2015 01:28

Yeah really good. So many good characters in it. Many of them recurring characters such as Martha Plimpton, Michael J Fox etc. Well worth a watch.
Apologies OP. As you were. Grin

CordeliaFoxx · 02/08/2015 01:24

Not seen that, is it any good? (Sorry OP)

MintChocAddict · 02/08/2015 01:22

Cordelia She pops up in the good wife occasionally playing a really good lawyer character.

BitOfFun · 02/08/2015 01:22
