Ok, following on from my boys name thread I'm now asking you lovely people for some feedback on options for girls names for DC 4. I'm not easily offended so please don't hold back! Alternative suggestions very welcome and sibling names are Arthur, Florence and Cecily....

Shortlist as follows:
Cordelia
Agatha
Primrose
Margot
Sylvia nn sylvie

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

The only Cordelia I know is a junkie. And horrible.
Primrose and agatha are two of the worst names out there. 'Prim' and 'aggie' aren't any better.

Margot is gorgeous and sylvie is lovely :)

Sophronia · 02/08/2015 00:51

I like Cordelia, Margot and Sylvia.

sleeponeday · 02/08/2015 00:42

I really loathe Cordelia, to be honest. It somehow always reminds me of Uriah, and thence Heep. Possibly because the meaning/sound is so close to cordial, which reminds me of oleaginous business speak! (Or a tautly managed post-divorce brand of courtesy, perhaps - "it was perfectly cordial, but...".) And Cordy is such a horrible nickname, too.

I love Sylvia and Margot, and both match the sibling names nicely. Primrose is lovely, but I suspect the Hunger Games connection may bump it up in popularity.

Rosamund goes well with the ones you have, perhaps? Also traditional, but not overly commonplace, and very English sounding.

FastWindow · 02/08/2015 00:34

Cordelia. Just perfect.

Dontloookbackinanger · 02/08/2015 00:29

I like Cordelia, it always makes me think (in a good way) of Anne of Green Gables.

Elfina · 02/08/2015 00:20

And Gwendoline and Amaryliss Smile

CordeliaFoxx · 02/08/2015 00:16

Lydia is nice too

CakeRattleandRoll · 02/08/2015 00:15

My favourites are Sylvia and Margot.

Elfina · 02/08/2015 00:12

Woman after my own heart! DD is Tabitha.

I love:

Cordelia
Genevieve
Primrose
Marigold

CordeliaFoxx · 02/08/2015 00:05

I like Cordelia! Cordelia Foxx is a character from American Horror Story (Coven), but I used to work with a Cordelia too.

crapfatbanana · 01/08/2015 23:44

I don't have strong feelings either way about any of the names, other than I don't think they go with your other kids' names.

Ursula?
Aurelia?
Rosalind?

marinacortina · 01/08/2015 23:39

I love Margot, very chic and cool!

Of the others, I don't dislike Sylvia and Cordelia, but not that keen.
Agatha or Primrose are hideous, sorry.

LavenderLeigh · 01/08/2015 23:24

I like them all except Agatha.

Daphnedolittle · 01/08/2015 23:06

Primrose is beautiful, by far the nicest. I also like Sylvia.
Don't like the others at all.

WishIWasWonderwoman · 01/08/2015 23:01

I would rank them:

  1. Margot
  2. Sylvia nn sylvie
  3. Cordelia
  4. Agatha

I don't like Primrose at all, sorry.

I do like Cordelia but it doesn't seem to fit with Cecily very well, but then again that's not really a problem in their adult life, it might mean people shorten her name to Delia very quickly.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 01/08/2015 22:57

Love Sylvie.
Love Margot,
Don't like Primrose but love Rose Rosa and Rosie.
Don't like Cordelia but love Delia and Cora as names in their own right.
Sorry can't stand Agatha.
Other suggestions.
Astrid
Meredith
Alice
Christina
Your existing children have gorgeous names. BTW,

Jenni2legs · 01/08/2015 22:51

I have a Cordelia, so I like it!
Aurelia is similar and means golden, which put me off as my elder two are pale skinned with dark hair.

ziggyziggy · 01/08/2015 22:36

i quite like agatha, not sure about cordelia

hawkmcqueen · 01/08/2015 22:36

Agatha too close to Arthur
Sylvie too close to Cecily
Margot and Cordelia best with sibset with no confusion when calling for them.
Primrose doesn't fit with your other names I think.

Aelfrida · 01/08/2015 22:27

I love Cordelia & Margot. The others not so much. Margot gets my vote but only by a fraction!

LaurieMarlow · 01/08/2015 22:27

I love Sylvie. Not keen on the others. ESpecially Agatha.

BeaufortBelle · 01/08/2015 22:26

I love Cordelia; prefer Ophelia marginally. Have you thought about Daphne? Genevieve?

Spartak · 01/08/2015 22:23

I know two Cordelias, both in their 20s. Both shortened to Cords. So I suppose it depends on whether you want to risk a nn which is the same as beige trousers favoured by middle aged men.

Allthatnonsense · 01/08/2015 22:20

Cordelia is beautiful.
Sylvie is gorgeous.
The others are cool and clunky.

BoutrosBoutros · 01/08/2015 22:19

Love all your choices! Cordelia is lovely and would have been DS2's name had he been DD1. Feel sad k can't use it!!
