Not short for anything, not Katie.

Just Kate.

What do you think?

I know a 5yo justKate. Lovely.

HahaHarrie · 30/07/2015 08:11

Kate is beautiful. Classic and classy but can be cool too. But I'm not such a fan of Katie and I would probably go the whole name on the birth certificate, but that's just me.

FuryFowler · 30/07/2015 08:08

Thank you all.

Tbh I just don't see the point in nicknames, if I named her Catherine then surely I'd call her Catherine?

I already have a boy called Tom, just Tom. Not Thomas. So I guess I'm following a trend. Sometimes he gets called Thomas and he asks me why that lady is calling him that.

I really like it and think it's already well established as a name in its own right

Majority of Kates I know (born 70s/80s) are not Katherines and I assume just have Kate on the birth certificate

I don't think it's boring at all!

LoveVintage · 30/07/2015 07:57

Love it. I had as great aunt Kate who was a really strong, practical woman and made a huge impact on me when I was young.

StealthPolarBear · 30/07/2015 07:55

Yes I got a telling off at school for ignoring my biology teacher who was shouting "Catherine"

sweetpeame · 30/07/2015 07:54

Like it and think it's established enough to be used as a name in its own right rather than as a nn for Catherine. It also won't date.

KatoPotato · 30/07/2015 07:54

I'm a kate. Just kate. My mum spent the 80s telling everyone is wasn't short for anything, and my nana was mortified.

Nursery thought I had hearing problems as I ignored 'Katie'

WhereAreMyDragons · 30/07/2015 07:52

I love it. Much stronger than Katie.

IsItStupid · 30/07/2015 07:52

I prefer Kate as a nickname.

Augustwedding · 30/07/2015 07:50

I adore it and if ds (well he will be dear once he decides to get out of me very soon!!) had been a girl she would have been kate Isabelle rose.

Pegaroo · 30/07/2015 07:48

A plain Kate is quite refreshing when compare to some of the floral, fancy and homemade creations out their. Bring back Kate and Jane.

DaisyChain87 · 30/07/2015 07:44

I like it a lot!

Greenstone · 30/07/2015 07:42

Love it, was on my list. Unusual now. Very strong and unapologetic IMO. Beautiful too!

Runnaway · 30/07/2015 07:39

Lovely. Strong and also sweet. Go for it.

StealthPolarBear · 30/07/2015 07:37

That's my name :)
I think it would be unusual these days. Though plenty of girls seem to be called Katie (she would get thay as well)

Kraggle · 30/07/2015 07:34

I think it's a nickname, and quite a plain one.
