Which variation Of Clementine do you prefer?

DH came up with this name, which I surprisingly like.
Clementine :) we would pronounce it Clem-en-tyne not teen

Which do you prefer, Clementine, Clementina or Clemency?

I don't particularly like the nn Clem or Clemmy though,

Can you think of any other nn: here's a few I like
Minnie, Min, Mimi, Cleo,

I like both the "teen" and "tyne" pronunciations, but the nn Clemmie is just awful, makes me think of someone pale and sweaty (clammy)

You can appeal for clemency. It means leniency.

I like Clemency, unsual. It rolls off the tongue better than Clemen-teen, which would be my pronounciation of Clementine.

To me, Clemency is something you ask for, not a name.

I have an almost one year old Clementine (teen). It is very uncommon (which I like) and we have come across only three others (London area). It is a beautiful name and we have only had positive reactions to it.

Clementine is beautiful. To me clemency is just a word that means the pardon of a crime, not a particularly pretty meaning and not really a girls name.

And, to be really honest, Lemmie is just awful. It is so babyish it's the sort of thing a toddler sibling who can't speak properly would say. You cannot lumber a child with a nn like that.

I don't like it at all. It will inevitably become Clemmie which is just horrible.

Plus it is very, very frilly. Imagine being called that as a fully grown woman?

At a push I think Clemency is a much more grown up sounding name.

Officially, tyne is correct, teen is the fruit. Though you can choose basically, just be prepared for a lifetime of people getting it wrong.

If you don't like Clem or Clemmy, I wouldn't choose this name, as it is what people will settle on whether you like it or not.

I like Clementine (pr tyne) with the nickname Tiny! Not keen on Clem or Clemmie either but it may be what people automatically shorten it to at school etc... Clemency isn't my favourite but you could shorten it to Cece which is really nice.

I really like Clementine (pronounced tyne) nickname Minnie or Mini. I think it's cute but can also grow with the child. I knew a Clementine nn Nina/Ninny.

Clementine (pronounced teen) is okay but surely if you want the French pronunciation you would do "Claymonteen"

Clementine Churchill, probably the best known Clementine, was pronounced Clementeen, known as Clemmie.

I'd only say Clemen-tyne if I was singing the song. If I was buying the fruit I'd say Clemen-teen, and I think that will be most people's exposure. So it's likely that your dd will be doing a fair bit of correcting people in the future. Which can be annoying. Clementina is less fruit like, but surely would be Clemen-teena, not Clemen-tyna?

My middle name is Clemency. I'm not particularly fond of the name.

Some of your proposed possible nns don't to me sound like they have anything much to do with the name - I'd not imagine that a child with any of those names was really called Clementine! Lemmie at a push

Was just about to post exactly the same as Junosmum. I have always loved Clementine. A nn of Tiny is just adorable.

It reminds me a little of a friend of mine whose dd is called Katinka, and they call her Tinker. She's just scrummy x

Clementine, I would pn it -teen. Clementina is a bit much and might get Tina which I really dislike. Clemency I'm not keen on.
I once heard of Minty as a nn for Clementine which I thought was cute :)
