I love it. Easy to say, translates well in most languages and works well across all classes.

It's a good name.

It fulfils all my criteria- It's a real name properly spelt. Any nicknames can be used to any effect. Baby Robby/Bobby/Bertie through to Rob/Bob the teenager/hipster/biker to adult Rob/Robert and grandad Bert!

I really like it, and I like Rob and Robbie but not so much Bob or Bobby (but I don't think anyone under the age of 60 would get called those anyway, unless they specially asked to be).

One of the things I like about it is that there's only one way to spell it!

I know a baby Robert and he really suits his name. It's a solid name and isn't faddy like many names out there just now.

I have a Bob - never dreamt when we chose Robert that he would be known as Bob, just evolved from time from the nickname Bobrobert. Now his initial on cricket selection sheets is 'B'. No regrets, he actually hates Rob as a shortened name!

My son is Robert. His mates call him Rob, we call him Robs, his aunt calls him Robsie Roo Ra and his sister Roobertroo. It's a name that won't date him. I dislike trendy names so it's perfect.

I would use it as a middle name due to family connections, but wouldn't use it as a first name personally as not keen on any of the nicknames.

It's a nice, strong name, and not overused at the mo.

Most Roberts I know are Rob or just Robert.
