Always loved Clara, but DH is saying it's quite a common name now?
Any other ideas welcome.

Only Clara I know is mid 20s now. Great name.

I think the 2014 baby names stats are due out soon , but in 2013 Clara wasn't in the top 100. It was 139th, with 381 babies called Clara in England in Wales that year. The top name was Amelia with 5570 babies. With that in mind, I don't think Clara is really all that common.

Incidentally, Finn was 116th with 511 and Rory was 96th with 652, so both at a similar sort of level to (although slightly more popular than) Clara. Well known, but not too common.

Of course, this may all have changed, but I don't think you will find that Clara is suddenly top 10.

They're lovely names. I know more children with names from your list than Claras. I don't know any Claras but know one or more of the others especially Anna and Rose. Has Clara maybe had a jump in where you live or maybe in your husbands work? My husband has known 4 baby Arthurs already this year in his work.

I have a baby Clara. Never met any others and always get told how unusual (and lovely) it is. Smile

Never heard of a British Clara, though I know a couple of German ones.

I dint know of any but it gets quite a lot of mentions on the baby names threads. I really don't like it myself.

Astrid maybe.
