Clara.. Too common?

Dd1 is due in september. Have 2 boys already. Finn and Rory
Always loved Clara, but DH is saying it's quite a common name now?
Any other ideas welcome.
Names I like are:
Anna
Rose
Erin
Juliet
Lara
Connie
Astrid

I know lots of Erins too btw. Lana? I know one little Connie, and it's a very cute name.

I've never met a Clara (Clar-ra yet I do know a Clair-ra), however there's one in my bump as we speak, due to emerge in the next week :)

A. To fret about the popularity of a name that isn't even in the top 100.

B. For a poster to insist there are eleventy thousand of them in their street. In a minute someone will swear blind there are twelve in their child's nursery class.

I'm not sure about its popularity but I'm not keen on that name myself. Also, some others from your list might be rather popular (Anna, Rose) though they are nice. Personally don't like Astrid and Connie.

I've only ever met one and she's four. I really don't think it's that common. If you like it, use it.

I know one, she's early 30's, Spanish and one of those outrageously gorgeous, clever, successful people who is quite literally good at everything.

I don't know any others so that's what I imagine when I hear the name.

Grin @ squoosh and "like Persephone". I know what you mean and agree, it's just funny seeing the two categorised together.

I have a Rory who would have been Clara if he was a girl, definitely not common round our parts I've never met one. Our back up name was Imogen which seems to be another one that comes up on mumsnet but I never hear otherwise.

I know of several and would expect it to rise. But it's hardly an Olivia or Amelia.

I know a baby Clara and think it's lovely. I hadn't really heard it much before. I don't think you need to worry about there being loads in the same class

Finn's not a very good example to compare to Clara as all the Finlays and Finleys are all known as Finn too. It's everywhere

Yes, it's on the rise but is outside the top 100. I'd say it will rise much further before it peaks.

Somebody was saying last week it will be the new Eliza in terms of popularity, though I'm embarrassed that I can't recall where Eliza is, but I think it must be well into the top 100

Only you c an decide if it's, or will be, too popular for you. It wouldn't bother me, personally

Sorry should have said DH is a paediatrician and comes hears a lot of new baby names :-)
I also only know one Klara, prefer it spelt with a C.

I know a few Claras but it's certainly not a name I would consider "overused". I love Juliet though - the best of your list IMO.

I think Clara is one of those names that comes up a lot on here but us actually not that common at all. I've met literally hundreds of babies this past year and have only come across one Clara. It was on my short list and I love it!

I know 2, but they are geographically very far apart. I have seen it come up on the baby names thread a few times, but does not seem to be very common around here. Love the name myself.

I know at least one (mostly more) of all of your other names too, other than Connie, which I really like, but seems like it should be short for something?
