As title says.

Not particularly looking for opinions on likeability, but what comes to mind if you hear the name Tobias?

And do you read/pronounce it TOW-BEE-AS or TO-BIAS?

Thanks :)

I like it. But it's my cat's name.

Roomba · 21/07/2015 22:09

I think of my mate who is call Tobias (Toe-BYE-ass). He's lovely, great fun and the campest man I ever met. Everyone does tend to shorten it to just 'Tobes' though.

OhahIlostmybra · 21/07/2015 22:07

iklboo · 21/07/2015 21:42

DS's best mate. Kooky, funny, sweet. Never gets the full To-bye-us unless he's in trouble!

RiverTam · 21/07/2015 21:38

Tobias Menzies, yum. Definitely Toe-bye-ass.

Losingmyreligion · 21/07/2015 21:34

Mmmm. Oliver Tobias. Luke's Kingdom. Swoon.

Oakmaiden · 21/07/2015 21:30

I have a Tobias. We pronounce it Toe-bye-us. Although, to be completely honest, we usually pronounce it Toe-bee :)

I love the name. Obviously.

reuset · 21/07/2015 21:30

Doesn't conjure up anything much. Just a normal nice name.

reuset · 21/07/2015 21:29

Never heard anyone pronounce it as Toe-bee-us, I mean not in the UK anyway. English pronunciation is Toe-bye-us

TheImprobableGirl · 21/07/2015 21:26

Probably tobias Eaton from divergent too! Yum!

Toby from the west wing, anyone? We liked this name but unfortunately had already used it for a hamster. It will surely always be shortened to Toby, which is also a nice name.

Junosmum · 21/07/2015 21:12

Toe-bye-ass

I've watched arrested development but it didn't spring to mind. It doesn't really conjure anything in my mind.

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 21/07/2015 21:06

This beautiful creature. And toe-bye-uss.

When I say Tobias, you think....
Sophronia · 21/07/2015 21:04

My DP's annoying colleague, he pronounces it to-bee-as, but I think it's usually toe-bias. I don't like it.

FizzyGood · 21/07/2015 20:48

My lovely friend. Kind and softly spoken, very deep, kind soul and clever.

Lovely Toby :)

Ausflug · 21/07/2015 20:47

The first time I ever saw it written was in Heidi (I think the character's name was mentioned once, very much in passing). I didn't know how to pronounce it (I thought Toby-Azz), but still thought it was a great name.

First time I heard it was in the Netherlands, I was a teenager and heard a mum calling a little blond toddler in a sing-song voice "Taw-bee-aaas".

I have absolutely loved the name ever since.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 21/07/2015 20:47

Four. Tobias and Tris. Naff book and naffer film but hot as hell.

Not a fan of the name but this isnt my child so feel free to discount my opinion Grin

MamaMotherMummy · 21/07/2015 20:46

Posh, tall, blond curly hair, shy.

Alwayswiththechords · 21/07/2015 20:44
