My two favourites are Clara and Claudia. Any thoughts? Is Clara becoming really popular? Apparently Claudia means 'lame' but I'm not too fussed about that. Would she be though?

Claudia. It's beautiful.

barbecue · 26/07/2015 20:59

Clara is very pretty. Claudia is harder sounding.

pieceofpurplesky · 26/07/2015 20:50

I love both but especially Clara as I loved Heidi as a kid.

Just one thing a distant acquaintance has a Clara and she says it Claire--a

Clara is lovely, and I have only met one under 5

BagsyThisName · 19/07/2015 21:43

Clara is a lovely name

RiverTam · 19/07/2015 21:42

Claudia. I really dislike Clara, I think it's such a harsh name.

MrsPeeee · 19/07/2015 21:40

villainousbroodmare maybe I should create a new name - Claraudia?

(Joke)

Thank you all. I suppose my thinking about popularity was because of Clara on Dr Who. I don't know any IRL Smile

In my head...
Clara is a thin little nervous girl with round misted-over glasses who chews the ends of her fair hair.
Claudia is a busty, buxom, rosy blonde barmaid in a tavern who can carry six overflowing quarts of ale.

Clara gets my vote. I know quite a few Claudias of 10 and under. I'm also personally put off by the uncertainty of pronunciation: I know 'Claw-dias' and 'Cloud-ias', and both kinds get irritated by being called the other pronunciation.

BoopTheLoop · 19/07/2015 18:40

Claudia.

No child is ever bothered about the meaning of their names. I didn't know the meaning of mine until I was about 12 and bought one of those tacky key rings. The meaning is a total non problem IMO.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/07/2015 18:35

Clara is lovely. It would go well with lots and lots of middle names too.

MrsPeeee · 19/07/2015 18:23

Thank you all. Pretty 50/50 on them!

I think Clara goes better with our surname - RemusLupin I don't know about a nn hadn't thought of that!

I think I might just have to see what she looks like and hope one of those suits :)

I like Clara

PotOfYoghurt · 19/07/2015 15:48

I love Clara, and don't know any.

ashesandfire · 19/07/2015 15:36

Clara is beautiful.

sweetpeame · 19/07/2015 15:00

Clara edges it over Claudia for me. Although recently I seem to know quite a lot of babies called Clara if that matters to you. DH is German and about every third women there in her 30's is called Claudia (prounounced Cloudia) so in my head it feels like a common name but I know in the UK it isn't.

MitzyLeFrouf · 19/07/2015 14:28

Both good names but I like Claudia best.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/07/2015 14:22

Claudia.,beautiful name.

reuset · 19/07/2015 14:19

Clara is reminiscent of a cat's name.

Surely Claw-dia is more reminiscent of a cat's name Grin

DramaAlpaca · 19/07/2015 13:46

Clara

FatSwan · 19/07/2015 13:40

I love both but prefer Clara.
