hmmmmm....what about this name?

Currently 28 weeks pregnant with a boy. Me and dh have decided his name is going to be Cooper -which I love love love ? I like kindof out there/americana names- names that aren't to crazy I guess (cooper us really moving up the popularity charts) what do you think??? I just want to know what kind of reaction it'll get lol x

I teach a Cooper, he's one of twins with his sister another more ordinary C name. I like it! There's no other Cooper to confuse him with (unlike lots of Millie/Ava/Caitlins etc) but it doesn't stand out as weird or anything. He's just an ordinary little boy & it suits him. Everyone knows how to spell it & pronounce it too!!

Raegan is a gorgeous name and I know a Raegan (mid 30s) who is lovely. Love the nn Rae too.

I love Americana names. I love surname names. I know a Cooper who is lovely. My sons name fits this trend.

Cooper is a fab name.

There is a lot of rude twats on this thread.

If you love it, go for it. Its a name given in love and not out of fear.

And that's all you need to know in life.

Neighbour has a black lab called Cooper so I can only think of it as a dog's name. But if you like it then go for it.

ems942 I get that...I am pretty childish myself lol but I also keep thinking super cooper or super trouper cooper - dh and I do just genuinely love this name.

Like I've said before, its what we're going for there is no changing that. I was simply asking for reactions and, for the most part I got the reaction that I expected. Can't say that I expected my daughter's name to be dragged through the mud but I can't blame people for not liking everything I like.

because my daughter has (and my son will have, an apparently Marmite name lol) she is already fully prepared for any and all the reactions that she has to her name. She is so incredibly intelligent and quickwitted that I have no doubt that she'll be able to handle any child or adult that doesn't know to react to her name. Sad but true. Either way thank you all for your opinions and roll on October I can't wait for him to be here

The difference (for me anyway) ThroughThickandThin is that she canvassed opinions on the names Cooper. Mine is above. She didn't ask for comments about her daughter's name and the ones that were given weren't very nice.

Bloody hell some people on this thread are being quite rude. I like the way you're staying positive about your chosen name despite this, op. Congratulations and good luck on the birth of Cooper.

Do people in rl really judge people on what their name is. Are people really that dull and sneery that they can't understand why somebody might choose a different name to them and just enjoy and embrace that difference?

Do people really think it's acceptable to take the piss out of someone's name? That's something bullies at school do. What would you say to your own dc if you heard them being rude about someone's name like that? I'd be telling my dc off and explaining to them how they could make someone feel by being nasty like that.

Apologies if I sound a bit po faced about it and thanks to others on thread who have also commented on how rude it is.

Don't even get me started on 'class marker' comments.

It's not a name I would pick but I don't dislike it, and everyone would immediately recognise it. I don't mind the surname as first name thing, we've been doing that in Scotland before it was trendy Wink (think Cameron, Stewart, Douglas...)
