Help with my stupid surname.

My surname is stupid. It is the noise a dog makes... but not Bark. The other one, the more stupid one.

Don't know what sex we're having and don't know where to start. Everything sounds ridiculous to me, DH & my names included. Bloody comedy surname.

What doesn't sound ridiculous with Woof?

I think you're right Milky. The longer the better. DH has only suggested Dennis so far. I despair!

x post - sorry. If you hate it that much, could you just go with teh Something name?

Milkyway1304 · 12/07/2015 22:16

I would go with something three syllable- Benjamin, Sebastian, Christopher, Elizabeth, Meredith etc. It's not a stupid name at all, no more so than any other.

Hassled · 12/07/2015 22:16

Is this your maiden name or your DH's surname? Because Ed Balls' children have the surname Cooper due to him not wanting to have the teasing experiences he had. Is your surname less canine?

scatterthenuns · 12/07/2015 22:15

DH thinks Woof is really cool btw.

Woof was/is my maiden name, but when we got married we both double barrelled to Something-Woof. In reality, on a day-to-day basis Woof gets used more often than the doubled version.

I don't hate it at all, its all I've ever known and I'd be said to lose it. I just think we sound like cartoon characters.

The tone of your post is hilarious , sorry if that wasn't the intention.

How about something like Elizabeth or Sebastian ? I think the formality of those names might detract from the slightly unusual surname ?

HighOverTheFenceLeapsSunnyJim · 12/07/2015 22:13

Virginia Woof

TheHouseOnBellSt · 12/07/2015 22:12

agree if you think it's silly, use your own name if the Woof one is your husband's. Don't know why you'd change it if you did!!

TheHouseOnBellSt · 12/07/2015 22:11

Like Emily Woof the actress? I don't think it's silly...it's cool!

Anything goes with it....what names do you like?

Betsy Woof
Olivia Woof
Emily Woof
Jane Woof
Hermione Woof

I know someone whose DP's name is Hoare. She was concerned her DD's would be teased, so gave them her name.

If you really hate Woof, why don't you just all change your name to something you like.

gymboywalton · 12/07/2015 22:10

your surname is woof? seriously?

is your husband's name woof?

have you considered changing it?

sorry i know that is rude but wow-that's a heck of a monicker!
